Depends on what your goals are. I have both....I started on P90x, did the 1st phase twice to build up my strength and started on phase 2 and had to quit due to the stress of buying and moving into our new house. I started on Insanity and will complete my first round in 3 more days.

Watching both dvds...it doesn't seem that hard, believe me...they are both equally hard starting out, if you are starting from an out of shape and over weight body like I was/am.

P90x will build up your stamina, strength, size. Insanity will TURBO charge your stamina as well as strengthening your legs and defining them. It's cardio on steroids.

P90x is an all over workout....upper, lower, abs and a little stamina building (when compared to Insanity).

Insanity, while you do several push ups is mainly for your legs and aerobic health. Like I said...your stamina will shoot way up after about 3 weeks.

Both will get you in shape, P90x will put more size on you though.

I'm doing another round of Insanity, then starting P90x and replacing the kenpo with an Insanity workout and probably the plyometrics also. After doing both....I'm glad I am doing Insanity because it will definitely help with the stamina needed to do the P90x workouts. It should keep my intensity up for longer periods.

After finishing P90x I'll probably switch off between a complete round of P90x followed by a round of the second phase of Insanity for a month and back to P90x just to keep my body guessing.

Both are great and I can say they both definitely work....Insanity is definitely NOT for the wishy washy. You can't halfheartedly do Insanity. It will kick your butt and you will give up too easily. You have to REALLY want to do it to stick with it.

I did P90X tree times and was looking for something that will improve my cardio and shape me a bit in home environment. I started Insanity and man o man it is hard. I’m glad I did P90X before it definitely prepared me for this insane workout. I will probably run one more Insanity maybe in deluxe mode and than I will do P90X – Insanity hybrid. That should keep me busy for another year. So in quick summary both workouts are excellent and switching from one to another and also mixing them up should give you god workout as well as results.

p90x will build overall muscle and lose fat. insanity will build stamina and you will burn more fat but not gain as much muscle.

Nothing different to say from the previous responses. I have completed P90X and am 3 weeks into Insanity.

What I will say is that I am glad I did P90X first. P90X got me into the shape that when I started Insanity I wasn't so far out of cardio fitness that I couldn't do it. Although, I am sure there are some that can say just the opposite, do Insanity first. It really depends on your goals as stated above. If you don't have the extra money for a pull-up bar, weights or bands, then go with Insanity. You just wont be building as much raw muscle.

As for both workout, it truly depends on your goals and your intensity level. I believe that anyone can get through either P90X or Insanity by going through the motions. To see actual results you will have to bring the intensity level up to your limits. It is all up to you and how hard you work.

Both are awesome workouts and I plan on doing a hybrid as well once complete with Insanity.
