I know some of you all use these for Kenpo, but I'm wondering if they may have a tendency to reduce upper body size and mass. Any thoughts on this?

Why would you say that? Boxers use boxing gloves to train with, you have construction workers who swing hammers all day...those are just two examples off the top of my head. My thought is....no, it won't reduce upper body size and mass.

it's high intensity cardio. it's supposed to target fat.

adding weights makes it more intense and difficult. it doesn't turn into a resistance workout.

I've gotten to the point with Kenpo that I want to amp it up a notch with weighted gloves. I just didn't want it to interfere with the resistance work. Thanks.

The only way that would happen is if you did chest every single day or back, every single day....that will hamper your growth, but a pound or two in each hand is nothing.
