Running on Cardio Days 5 Months ago Karma: 0
Does anyone have an opinion on running instead of doing the P90x cardio workouts? I would never dream of replacing plyo, but lately I've considered going for an hour on the treadmill instead of doing Kenpo. I used to run an hour a day 6ish days a week before starting P90x, and I'm really starting to miss it. I've been asthmatic all my life, and the running routine was finally getting me where I wanted to be lung power/endurance-wise, but I've had to give it up because P90x is time consuming. I'd like to have time to do more cardio while obeying the full schedule of P90x, but I'm in my last semester of college, and I have a thesis to write along with classes to attend, homework to do, and many other obligations, and I don't think I can spare more time for exercise than I already do. Does anyone have an opinion on replacing Kenpo (maybe even just sometimes, not all the time) with running?

Thanks,
- Jo

i think thats fine. i mean, cardio is cardio. well, plyo is another animal, but as long as you're moving, getting the blood pumping, i dont see why you can't.

I've thought about doing similar things because Kenpo, though it does get my heart rate up, I don't feel like it does as much as other cardiovascular activity like running or playing a sport like basketball. I may end up replacing my Kenpo days with some other type of hour long cardio activity. For now I'm sticking with Kenpo though.

Being in the Army, I've used running to replace cardio. I pretty much have to or I'd be doing triple workouts. That would be a bit much. We run at an 8 minute/mile pace for 4-6 miles.
