Hello everybody.
Anyone got a nice tip how to follow the yoga?
I'm at my 4.th day and it's yoga time, but i have problem to follow the instructions, with my head down, relax, and let the world go....
It ended in head twists that did not feel good. After 20 min i was tired of trying to follow, and got a little pain in my neck.
Any tips how to do this a little more comfortable and relax way.
Where do you have the mat and TV? I tryed side way, front.. bur it does not work that well.
Met vriendelijke groet,
Lizje
(hope you excuse me the bad english)

I also had this problem with Yoga the first time I did it. It got better the 2nd time because I kind of knew what was coming.
If you didn't finish the video during your workout, you might want to just throw it in and watch it - so you will know what it looks like. You'll probably still have to look up some, but it shouldn't be as much if you're already familiar with what they are doing.

Big Papa,
Thanks for the tips. And i sort of did the Yoga...
I have another Yoga dvd that i played instead. 20 minutes.
I think 1,5 houres is a little bit to mutch, so i cheeted, just a "little" bit. Got the stretch end bendings allover, but in shorter time.
I'm not this huge fan of yoga, so the 20 minutes is for me long enough.

Yeah, Yoga sucks at first. I used to do half the moves and just watch them. Then after while I finnaly was able to do the moves. So just keep at it.

MrPhil,
The movements are not that bad, when i can see them. I think my bitching about the yoga X, is the lenght. I've done yoga before, but not for long, since i think it's.... well boring.
I'm not in that bad shape, just need more strenght and condition for a vacation in December.
But next week... i'll try more then 20 min... promise

I found that the routine starts to go by MUCH faster once you get used to the motions. The first couple of times you do it will definitely be tough though, in part because you aren't familiar with the poses, as well as aren't trained to do them.
About trying to see them--with yoga form is critical, and if you're going into contortions so you can see what they are doing then it will be impossible for you to do the poses yourself. Until you are familiar with the moves enough that you don't need to see them doing it at all, it would probably be a good idea to watch them do it first and then rewind and do it with them without having to watch. This will make it take longer initially, but will be well worth it in the long run.
You can also break the video up into the two sections--the initial sun salutations stuff, and the second half of balance poses.
Yoga is tough for a lot of people, but as Tony repeatedly states in the video, it is a critical component of the P90X program and will do great things for your overall fitness, flexibility, and athleticism.
Cheers!

Im getting better at the yoga but what makes it seem so long for me is the.....now lift the ankle high into the air.....but just when you think it cant drag on anymore, you are done with the ankle raiss and on to something different! Good times!!

I agree with Val once you learn all the moves and transitions it seems to go faster. Also I feel that as you become stronger you are able to concentrate more on your form and less on if your arms and legs a going to colapse. When your hurting and struggling every second seems like an hour.
Hang in there. Yoga has helped alot of people on this forum. Most of whom were saying the same things during the first couple of weeks, including myself.
Hang in there

I figured I might as well agree with everyone else. ABSOLUTELY watch, try, pause, watch again, try, and pause the YOGA videos the first couple of times you are doing it. If you are going to skip to the second half (where the stretching is) you might as well skip Yoga and put the X-Stretch video in.
The first half is a killer, the legs/thighs WILL feel the burn. Yes, is is kind of long, but at the end you feel great! You just have to work harder initially until you get the moves right.
You are not alone on this, most of us had the same problems with Yoga, just keep at and practice, it'll get better.

Today was my first Yoga day also. And i found it hard to watch and do the moves at the same time. I got discouraged and changed over to cardiox and then ran on my treadmill for a bit. I hate yoga and dont think i can get into 90 minutes of it with my schedule. But il try again

The first two times I did Yoga, I think I did about 1 hour, because of all the pausing I had to do, I ran out of time. By the third time, you're more familiar with the routines, so you don't have to spend as much time watching the video, you can listen to the cues, and before you know it, you're looking at the screen and you're in the right position!

I'm just starting out. In fact I'm getting ready to do YogaX in an hour. I just don't understand the complaints about this. You paid a lot of money for this "system" to get into the best shape of your life. It has been tested and proven by some very fit people. Some only after doing it. If you're a club member check out the videos about the making of P90X. They spent a lot of time putting all of this together. It works. Yoga is there for a reason. It helps with flexibility, strength, and mental preparedness.
I'm doing it no matter how hard it is for me at the start because I want to be strong and healthy.
I follow the diet strictly, the exercises as best as I can and have lost 6.5 lbs in less than a week! My clothes are already feeling loose, and I need another hole in my belt. That means I already went through 3 holes on my belt.
PUSH PLAY!
DO YOUR BEST AND FORGET THE REST!
Jeff
