Pushup Stands? 4 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Just wondering what people prefer in regards to pushup stands in p90x. I should be beginning tomorrow or Sat and was wondering if the perfect pushup is the way to go or just your standard pushup stand, etc.

Thoughts?

Not exactly sure what a pushup stand it, but I use stationary pushup bars and they work just fine for me.

Also, in some cases the push up stands have a weight limit. Tony's new stands, sold by Beachbody, will only hold up to 250 pounds. So I have a goal now!

I've been using the push up bar on the base of my freestanding pull up station without problems. Whenever I want to move my arms around, I just do the push ups with my hands on the mat. If I want to get deeper into a push up to work my chest more, I do fingertip push ups. That way I get the hands involved, too.

You can also just use the dumbbells as push-up bars. I prefer flat on the mat, but every now and then my wrist acts up and it feels better to use the bars. Big Papa

Well I have the perfect push-up. And my opinion of it is, it's not worth it. I stopped using it after the first day. It feels "unnatural" if you know what I mean. I would just stick to a push up bar or dumb bell like big papa suggested.

I am wondering about the proper hand placement for a push up. Should I have my thumbs forward to do them or on a 45 like they do in the video. I have always done them with my thumbs straight ahead and it really works my tri's, but I think by doing them at a different angle it will work my chest differently

Just got the Power Stands and they are rated up to 325. Hopefully this doesn't change your goals. They are really nice and easy to use. I have always done push ups with my hands flat on the floor, but with these I can get a lot lower and get more stretch in my chest.

No kidding? Wow, that's great!!

I got the information from Beachbody, but if they're indicating 325 pounds in their product insert, that would be wonderful!

Definitely going to consider buying some!

Thanks,

Kevin
