My ridiculous modification attempt 1 Month, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Well here it goes. I'm almost done with phase two, I'm happy with my muscle gains but want to add some more cardio to burn more fat. Well I was going to just switch to doubles for the rest of my 90 days, but I've thought of a better idea.

P90x workouts with Insanity workouts for doubles.

It's going to be ridiculously hard, but why not give it a shot? I was going to do a round of insanity after this round of p90x anyway so lets try to combine the two. I'll keep posting on here as to how well it goes and how hard it really is. And don't worry, my mom is a nurse so any negative side effects and she will be sure to let me know to take it easy. So let me know what you think about this crazy idea. I start it up first thing tomorrow, luckily this is my last week of phase 2 before my recovery week so I can ease into it a little more.

So far I've designed it like this:

AM: Normal P90X classic routine
PM: A mix of Pure Cardio and Plyo Cardio Circuit (No Plyo circuit on Plyo X days)

Day 5: After Legs and Back (Friday for me) do Fountain of youth yoga at night, I like the yoga, and especially to stretch my legs more after that workout.

Day 6: Just Kenpo as the doubles routine has no double on Kenpo days.

Day 7: X-Stretch

Recovery weeks will follow the P90X layout but replacing one of the core synergistics with core cardio and balance, and possibly replacing Kenpo with Pure Cardio.

As the workouts go on I'll more than likely switch to the harder Insanity workouts (Max Interval Circuit/Plyo/Conditioning etc)

when you say a mix of pure cardio and plyo cardio what do you mean? If done back to back...that would be really hard starting out, unless you are a regular jogger or play basketball several times a week.

Kenpo is nothing compared to Insanity workouts. you may want to change the kenpo for something from Insanity. Max Cardio conditioning is a good one. It's not as whole body oriented as the rest of the Max workouts. The sports training from the deluxe edition is also a good cardio workout. Max Interval and Max Plyo are the hardest and most strenuous.

by a mix I mean one day do one the next do another not both in the same day. And yeah I may just drop kenpo all-together and do insanity in place of it.

i would maybe rethink day 5. if Fountain of Youth yoga is anything like Yoga X, that day would be way too leg intensive, i'm speaking from experience!

i had to double up once, because i missed a day. did legs and back in the morning, and then went back to do Yoga X later in the day, and let me tell you, it was TORTURE on the legs.

i wouldnt recommend it. but you may want to try it and see if its too much for you, certainly was too much for me!

First day of this combo down. Chest, Shoulders, + Triceps in the morning and Pure Cardio at night. I now know why they call it Insanity... damn was that harder than I expected. I thought a month and a half of plyo x would have prepared me a little more for that.... no way. But I think I've modified my modification a little bit though. I've decided my fountain of youth yoga will be on plyo x nights (day 2) and on day 5 I'll do an Insanity workout, not sure which one yet though. I've also decided to completely eliminate Kenpo X and replace that with Insanity as well. Now we will just see if I can keep it up.
