Help 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 1
I got a body fat test done and it came up as 8.8% body fat but I still dont have six pack. Flabby skin covers it. The lady who did my test told me that skin is just baby skin and genetic skin left over and that the only way I can have a six pack is if I build up my ab muscles so they would pop out of the skin. For this she recommended me to go on a bulking diet which I am currently doing, and the muscles are growing! The only question I have is this: Is Ab Ripper X enough for BUILDING my ab muscles, not lean out, but MAKE bigger? Or should I do things like weighted crunches, gym machines, etc? I am currently doing it every other day for the whole week. I am also following a 4-day a week weight training routine in which I work a different part of the body every day.

Please help me!! I really want my ab muscles to grow so I can have a six pack but dont want to take the risk of continuing to do Ab Ripper X as my ab exercise if it wont help me with this!

Thanks, and sorry for so much writing

If you really wanted to push ARX to the extreme you can add in some weights, I doubt it's really needed though. If you feel like ARX isn't doing enough you're probably not pushing it far as you could.

*edit* I just saw your profile. You're only 15 dude, you just need to follow the ARX and the rest of P90X and you'll have abs before long. Don't push them too hard or you'll hurt yourself. Doing ARX 3 days a week in addition to everything else is plenty. You're also doing Abs during Yoga, Kenpo, and Legs & Back. If you're really at 8.8% BF the just focus on your workouts and keep your diet clean.

I don't see why not. Obviously doing resistance crunches will bulk you up, but ARX is great. If you do ARX 3 days a week, you will see a six pack in no later than 3 months... probably less.

Ab/Core+ is a good one too. You get that as part of the P90X+ routine and it's only 20 minutes. I've found it's an awesome way to workout since it's more than just floor exercises.

A couple of my P90X buddies and myself have blasted past ARX and we find that we don't get the benefits we want from the routine any longer. The last time I did ARX I did over 650 reps.

Find other abs/core routines. Do a search on YouTube and you will find all sorts of pain! In fact, search for "windshield wipers".

Boomer,

Tony did a DVD for the One on One series called "Killer Abs" that combines Ab Ripper from an earlier series and Ab Ripper X together in one video.

Just a thought. Also, there's a new DVD series coming out from Beachbody called Rev Abs that might be worth a look.
