This is my second week doing P90x and I have a question about the ARX workout. I am really starting to be able to do close to every workout in full and I really only feel it in the stomach muscles closest to my ribcage. The rest of my stomach feels worked out, but I really feel it closest to my ribcage. Is this normal?

Isolating the lower abs is a always a concern....actually I doubt it can be done. Even with so called "lower ab" workouts(i.e weighted leg raises, hip thrusts, leg lifts etc) your upper abs take much of the load. For me, lower ab workouts tend to burn my upper abs and my hip flexors more than my lower abs.

The only thig we can do is continue to do the workouts. Make sure your form is correct. Fifer sissor's work the lower abs well but make sure you keep your lower back flat, if you're arching your lower back it means you aren't engaging your lower abs to support your spine. With the pulse ups only your tailbone needs to come off the ground and your legs go UP like you're kicking the ceiling(the tendency is to bend the hips so the legs go towards the head which shifs the load to the upper abs).

I think yamar hit it on the head. The lower abs are some of the most difficult muscle groups to isolate. For me I try to extend on the exercises like bicycles and even ins and outs. When I do that I can definately tell a difference.

As is stated in the forums multiple times though. Abs are made in the kitchen. I hope that just consistantly doing all these abs exercises and hopefully continuing to cut fat will sooner or later result in some abs for all of us..Me espescially I'm still fat! ..

Thanks Guys! I thought I might be doing the excercises wrong and at the very end I started to try and conciously use my lower abs. It seemed to help some. I'm still early in the program and I'm learning how to do exercises correctly and what muscle groups to work. I would love to have a 6 pack and a "V" for my abs when I'm done, but as long as I can see some change, I'll keep working toward it.

Any other tips to help work the lower abs would be appreciated.

Man, I feel all the pain in my lower abs the next day. If you can do all the moves, take some time to focus on your form, do the moves slower with control. You should not be arching your back. If you lay on the floor relaxed there will be space between your lower back and the floor. Now use your abs (not your legs) to press your lower back to the floor. You should be able to feel it in your lower abs.
