TOPIC: Marathon Training + p90X ?
Marathon Training + p90X ? 3 years, 4 months ago #5361

Hi All,
I am doing Marathon Training as well as p90X. I run 15 miles on weekend and 4 to 5 miles on weekdays every alternate day. So I would like to know if this is okay to skip cardios and Plyos. Or do I need to do atleast Plyo. with regular Muscle endurance training. Basically I want to knoe how can I club my marathon training with P90X. |

There was a Beachbody Network News article a couple of months ago about a man who ran marathons and did P90X. But I don't think he left out any portion of the training. You might check the Beachbody website and try to download the podcast.
It may be easier if you have iTunes. I just typed in "Beachbody" in the search window and subscribed to the podcasts. At least, you could scan the listing and download the one relating to your inquiry. Hope this helps... Kevin |

I too need help in this department.. It seems I would rather run 5-6 miles then do Pylo cardio, I don't really see what the problem would be, you might actually use up more energy running?

You might use up more energy. But it isn't just about burning calories. It's about doing an exercise regimen designed to improve your speed and agility. It also improves your endurance. Now, there's no doubt that you've got to have endurance to run 5-6 miles. But doing Plyometrics improves endurance in ways that running may not.
Give it a try and I think you'll see the difference! Kevin |

I'm training for my 1st high mileage race of the year (18 miles) in May. I'm doing both the running and p90x and it doesn't bother me at all. I do running in the AM and p90x after work at around 7pm.
