Yeah I dont buy this statistic that it has anything to do with sitting at a desk. I think it has to do with the fact that most people who dont exercise, and eat poorly, also tend to have desk jobs. Let's face it -- we work 9, 10, 11, 12 hour days at work -- the vast majority of people working those hours at a desk are also eating fast food for breakfast and lunch, or 'going out' to lunch with co-workers for 1200+ calorie restaurant crap, and then going home exhausted to eat and sit in front of a TV.

You have to realize we crazy folks on this forum that work 8-12 hours a day, manage to take the time to plan food and eat right, and then do a 60-90 minute work out EVERY DAY are an extreme minority.

I read a similar article in Men's Health this Sept. The point of the study was that they looked at people who worked out five days a week but sat for an extended period of time during the day. They are categorizing this person as sendintary and would be more likely to see health issues. Seems counterintuitive that someone who works out regularly could be a couch potato.

Even so, I have looked for more opportunities to get out of my chair. A good suggestion they had was walking around the office while on the phone.
