At the beginning of 2010, I lost 30 pounds and felt great. As of late, I have gotten very busy and I have gone back to my poor eating habits and lack of exercise. I have gained back about 5 of these pounds, but I plan on starting P90X to get back into things.

I have gotten out of shape these past few months, so physically I do not feel like I am ready to jump into this. Because of this, I am not going to start until the beginning of 2011, giving myself a few months to get ready. Do you have any suggestions for what I should do to get myself physically and mentally prepared to tackle this?

Thanks!

How overweight / out of shape are you? I only ask because many of us were in pretty rough shape when we started. You only get better by getting better. Some have done Power 90 before doing P90X, but in my personal opinion if you can do 10 pushups, can lift weights, can jump around a bit, and can do some assisted pullups (chair, bands, whatever) then you can probably just jump right in. Doctor permitting of course.

I'm with Rick. I started just six weeks ago at 273 pounds, able to do about 5 regular pushups, and modifying most everything. Even so, my gains have been outstanding. I'll surely need a couple of rounds to get to where a lot of grads are - you may too - but if you're motivated to do P90x, just jump in and try.

Well I am only slightly overweight. I can do push-ups well as well as push-ups. My main problem is endurance and stamina. I have always found that I have troubles doing exercises for an extended period of time. So I was just wondering if I would have troubles completing the P90X workouts.

Do Power 90! If I didn't do Power 90 I probably would've stopped or quit P90X. It's a great platform for anyone who's serious about fitness and doesn't know where to begin. P90X is great at making you ripped and athletic-like. But Honestly Power 90 is what changed my life and got me into fitness.

Like franker I also started with Power 90. I'm glad I did, otherwise I'm not sure I would have been able to finish P90X. You may not need to do a full 90 days before you start P90X but the 35-45 min a day program will certainly help get you ready.
