I am approaching day 80 and can report remarkable results as to body composition. As part of this process, I started investigating what's next after p90x and decided to go with kettlebells (3x a week) for the next 90 days and see what happens. About a month ago, I started substituting Cardio X and Yoga X for kettlebells, which resulted in a much greater cardio workout. I still plan on going six days a week at about 1 hour a day, with kettlebells 3x, bodyweight routines 2x (like Tony's push-ups/pull-ups), and plyometrics 1x (probably my favorite of all Tony's routines). What are your plans post-p90x?

I like your plans. Please keep in touch and let us know how it works out for you. I like the fact that your taking parts of P90X and mixing it in with other workouts to meet your own personal goals. Great job!

There has to be life after P90X whether it is another round of P90X or a different fitness routine. I don't know how anyone can just do 90 days of extreme fitness and call it quits. It just doesn't make sense. Fitness is a lifestyle now.

I just finished P90X /P90X+ yesterday (Saturday, 4/4/2009). I am taking an extra recovery week and starting P90X/P90X+ round 2 on April 13th. Except this time I am adding triathlon training. I actually started triathlon training a couple weeks before "graduating" from P90X! I will run 3x's a week, bike 2 times a week and swim 2 times a week. I will keep all the P90X strength and abs workouts. I am going to attempt to keep plyo/interval x plus. I will have to sub out yoga and kenpo to work in my triathlon training. My first ever triathlon is on June 7. After I complete the triathlon I will put yoga and kenpo back in. When I finish round 2, I will begin training for a marathon (and continue P90X).

So yes, there is life after P90X.

Your post was excellent. As you note, you can't go through P90X (or any extreme-type training) and think that, after you finish, your personal fitness is somehow complete. What I learned from your post and my own experience, though, is that if you don't broaden your exercise regimen base, it might be hard to maintain the commitment. For example, it's awesome that you incorporated triath training, which seems a natural extention to the P90X/X+ platform you built.

I just saw a few of the videos on the rosstraining website and anyone that can do that is insane. More power to you.

Corp_T-I can barely keep up with the guy as he does the jump rope. I have an excellent speed rope, but Ross is just unbelievable. Anyway, I aspired to P90X and what others were accomplishing on this forum, so why not aspire to upping the bar a bit! When I started P90X, I thought I was in decent shape, but, nooooo way was I fit compared to where I am today. As such, I figured if I design a new 90 day regimen using the principles from P90X (e.g., muscle confusion, cardio mixed in) and a number of the routines, and continue to really push myself, I think I'll move to an even fitter level with appropriate weight, low body fat, and great blood chemistry.

Whoa! The Ross Training is incredible. I think P90X/P90X+ takes you to a pretty intense level for a home workout system that doesn't require one to have gym equipment. However, if you do have access to the gym or the equipment, this Ross Training, takes it to a level above P90X! I would be tempted to try it out if not for my triathlon training.

As for myself, when I do round 2 of P90X/P90X+ I will definitely change up some of the strength workouts to incorporate other strength moves. During phase 3, I substituted dumbell bench presses and flyes for all the push-ups. It made good gains and took the chest workout up a notch. I could only go so far with body weight chest exercises. In fact, I already max'd out my SelectTechs with the bench presses and I need heavier wieghts. I know that some of the P90X purist will be alarmed at modifying workouts, but even Tony Horton knows that one has to modify the workouts. I am sure he just doesn't restrict himself to only doing the exercises in P90X.

dave... I find it refreshing that you are looking for ways to meet your personal goals and taking what you can from P90X and other sources to get there.
