TOPIC: Restarting P90x

Restarting P90x 10 months, 1 week ago #75279

Ok so I started p90x at the end of January. I made it through phase I- (sort of slacked off during the recovery week) and then made it through one-two weeks of the phase 2.. I then got really sick and I was out of commission for 15 days! Then I was out of town (emergency) for a week so I didn't have my videos. THEN it just became hard to get back into it. I decided today I am restarting again. However, I started losing motivation at the beginning of phase 2.. I took pics every week and I was DEFINITELY seeing results and I loved it so I don't know why the loss in motivation. Does anyone else have tips about maintaining that motivation? I get that you just have to "keep pressing play" but when your'e really lacking the motivation- that becomes hard too.

First of all, welcome back, glad your giving it another go!

Motivation comes in many forms. But it first has to come from deep desire for change. Some suggestions you may want to try: Journal your journey and make an appointment with yourself each day to to write down your diet intake and what exercise you did that day. It helps to see where you were and where you are.

Keep coming to these boards, daily, if you can. Read several old/new posts. They have much to say to help you stay on track.

Theres also a nice sticky post above the forums you should read regarding motivation. But truthfully, you have to want to bad enough. Theres an old quote by Dora Lee Scott that I keep in the room where I workout, it says..." Nobody changes until the pain of staying the same becomes greater than the pain of change". This is so inspiring to me and whenever i am feeling overwhelmed, I look at it and think...gee, it really begins with me and how much effort I want to put into it. Just a nice reminder.

We can think ourselves out of about anything, to tired, to busy, to sick, yadda-yadda-yadda, but once we get on board and decide we are not going to keep going around the same ole mountain and getting the same ole results, we commit and push through it.

So it's really your journey and only you can make the decision when to start/stop . Journaling really helped me, when I started, to stay focused. I even made a weight loss graph that I looked forward to marking off as I progressed...that was really inspirational for me.

Hope we see you posting and keep us up-dated. I know you can do this, we are here 4 you. Lots of wonderful ppl in here! Hugs ~Kate

I lost motivation a few times, like you during phase 2 was the first time.

Part of the problem there was I wasn't eating enough calories and losing energy like crazy. Changed up my diet to add more calories and my energy came back, routines got better and I pushed on.

Lost motivation again due to tweeking my back in week 11. Had to modify like crazy to get through week 12 but I did it with almost every routine and exercise. Now I am enjoying my first day with no workouts at all in 100 days.

It was actually hard NOT to do P90X today. As a salute I did about 40 prison-cell pushups for fun.

Think about having that hot body, dude!

My motivation is MMA. I want to be like those guys: able to whoop ass.
I can't do that without being in shape! Imagine yourself with a 6-pack, toned bulky legs and some nice arms whooping on someone if that helps. Sure helps me!
