Saying hi (3) days in to p90x! 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 1
All I can say is....I'm SORE!! lol

Hello all, I'm new here and to p90x, I just had some quick questions. I'm trying to follow the diet to a T but I can't! I am eating good and healthy low carbs and just more or less swap some things out for others, like instead of string cheese I have a protein shake. Is this good or do I need to be on point.

another, is I can't seem to finish the whole thing! First day I did the whole thing was today, arms! felt pretty good just stumbled a bit to keep up with him. I just did 1/2 of the ab ripper! On day one I could not do any abripper, infact I could not move lol. but I am going to finish this, even if I have to do 2 rounds! I do have day one pics and plan to take them every week.

Hey there! I just started this Monday so I know exactly how you feel. I couldn't finish the first days workout, but managed to squeeze through pylo and arms/shoulders. I would recommend that you finish every workout whether you are barely moving or giving 110% that way the next time that workout comes around you can add a little more to add and progress a little bit each time. Also, this is just an idea, but try saving the Ab Ripper for Week 2 or even Week 3. I'm not in very good shape and that's exactly what I'm doing that way I can build my endurance and be able to produce a worth while workout and not just go through the motions.

As for the diet.. I love string cheese so I would say eat the string cheese! It's not a bad thing to mix and match things but just be sure you don't over do the protein shales or over eat your carbs proteins fats etc. I have a dry erase board on my fridge and draw a calendar on it and plan out each days meal ahead of time that way I can see clearly if I'm eating too much or too little of something and it also allows me to keep my meals fresh and different.

Coy G pretty much hit it on the spot so all I'm going to say is:

Welcome to P90X!

And if you need some motivation, we are all here. It's a painful but good workout!

A big part of this workout system is the process of starting new habits, whether it's eating healthy, making through the killer workouts, drinking more water, etc. etc. And as with all new habits, it gets easier the more work through it. Like others have said, just do your best with the workouts. It's like Tony always says, "Modify, modify, modify!" Switch things up so that you get the best workout that you can do, and then do your best--and forget the rest!

As for the eating, that's another big one where it really gets easier with time. As you get used to new eating patterns, it will eventually become second nature. You'll automatically know what sort of stuff you should be eating, and your cravings for nasty-wicked-evil foods will go down.

Hope that helps!

no1up... for whats its worth, I could only do about 50-60% of the abs routine. That was just crazyness, but I know with time I'll get it.

Good luck on your end. I'm on day one, so only a little behind you. Lets encourage and get in shape!

I totally know what you mean, generally, I follow the plan, like I try to get in the right amounts they require, my biggest challenge is that I have a hard time eating the full 1800 that is required. All the protein on the plan has me so full, and I am finding that a challenge! Especially since I am not doing as much cardio as I used to...I was Queen of Aerobics before this!

I say, keep going, and after maybe the 30 days you're not seeing any change, trying sticking to the plan more carefully. That is my plan anyway!

Good job making it this far, lol. I can atest to the fact that its not easy even getting to day 3 lol. I haven't been following the meal plan to much. I'll try and do better as I go along. I HAVE cut out all junk food, and I'm eating smaller portions, mostly chicken, brown rice, broccolli, cottage cheese, tomatoes. Protein bars for snacks, and alternating protein shake or banana for breakfast. I measured myself this morning and I'm 2 inches smaller in the stomach area. Hopefully thats good progress. I'm waiting till the end of the week to weigh myself lol. I don't have any string cheese, but I do have a 2 Lb. block of Tillamook cheese that my ex brought me from the states last week. I keep staring at it and closing the fridge. I love tillamook cheese. Can't get it in Canada. As for the workouts, I can't do the whole thing. I'm doing what I can of each exercise every night. I wasn't quite ready for the plyo the second day, so I did cardio instead. I figure I'll try it on the next cycle. I have noticed that I can do more of the moves such as squats than I could the first day. Day 6 tomorrow. Things are looking up.

I know it seems hard, and sometimes things like cheese can tempt us. But you know what, when we work hard sometimes we need a little treat. Just cut out a little square of cheese, like a 1cm by 1cm square. But don't do it everyday. Maybe once a week after a hard workout. It's also good in protein.

Welcome

Workout:
try your best, (that's always good enough). use the pause button as much as you need to. rest when you feel tired but hang in there and give it your all.
some exercises are more intense than others, for those put a number in your head. example try to do 1 wide front pull up by week 3 you'll be doing 5.

as for Ab Ripper sorry to say but there is no escape, just do your best. I would advise anyone to skip it for a week or 2 because this is a bunch of muscles that you'll be working on at once.
your goal for the first 2 weeks is to work your abs to failure (try to reach 10
by week 3 you have to suck it up.

Diet:
eat well and follow the portion

Not2L8: you're from Canada? Whereabouts? I'm from Toronto!
Did you order any of beachbody stuff from the net? I thought the shipping would be madness so I bought my recovery drink and protein bars from the GNC. The guy there told me I was the fifth person that day to come in asking about it, lol. But the first woman!!!

Well I'm on day 5 now moving on to legs and back! I don' know how I'm gonna do it?! I only did an hour of yoga, I'll be more strict on my self in the next 7 days. I also added jui jitsu and I'm going to add in Karate, so this should keep me busy.

Im in Richmond, next to Vancouver. I didn't want to wait 2 weeks for it to show up from Beach Body, so I bought my Whey Powder and Protein bars from GNC. Saved money by getting the GNC gold card. I would have thought there would be more women going in and buying protein etc from GNC. Go Bluejays.

Fortunately, no credit report required.

It's just a store card that GNC uses to stamp when you make purchases. If you make so many purchases in a given period of time, you can get credit toward additional purchases, or get free stuff. So, it's just a little paper piece of paper and I don't think you have to fill anything out.

Also, GNC usually discounts its products the first ten days of each month. It's another way to save money!
