Weight Loss Has Come to a Halt 4 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 1
So I drop about 20 lbs in the first week and a half. Now this past week I drop nothing. I'm eating about 5 or 6 times per day (there's a log if anyone wants to check it out) and eating WAY less than normal. I haven't missed a workout yet. It's not like I'm trying to lose that last 10 lbs... I've still got 80 lbs to go.

I will say that I feel better. I have more energy. I feel that I am getting stronger. I'd just like to see some more pounds melt away.

Frustrated - Big Papa

Don't be frustrated that you did not loose weight, your body is still trying to compensate for it. You basically put it in shock and it's wanting to plateau. I would slightly up your carb intake just to give your body more energy to rest with. But keep at it, I promise you will get the results you want.

No worries on the weight brother... Us big guys tend to take little spurts of weight loss and then muscle gain and the scale doesn't like it. Just pay attention to the pants size droppin...

I'm sure i'll need the same encouragement from you soon, but stick it out.

Keep checking pants size. You are prolly adding muscle weight faster than you are losing fat.

I was looking at your diet log, and while I know more when it comes to bodybuilding diets, and not what you need for p90x. I did see that you have a low amoutn of protien.

I would drop the Penut butter sanwich, southbeach bars, and banannas.

When I was trying to lose wieght it would go something like this.

Meal 1: 8oz egg white, 1/2 cup oat meal.
Meal 2: protien shake 1/4 cup oatmeal.
Meal 3: 6 oz chiken breast 4 oz sweet potato
Meal 4: protien shake 1/4 cup oatmeal.
meal 5: 8 oz lean turkey 4 oz sweet potato
meal 6: 6 oz Cottage cheese

and maybe another protien shake or something befor bed.

it's a LEAN diet lol. I went from 225 fat , to 158 lean, back up to 180 buff!! Now I'm 175 and normal since I didn't do much for over a year.

what you lost was "fluff". it was a mere top layer of fat, this was made easy by your diet and exercises. you got to understand that it gets hard from this point. although this is not a bodybuilding program you are growing muscles.
give yourself a break, get one of those measuring tape and stay of scale until the end of the 3rd week and again after your 1st recovery week, many members have experienced some changes often dramatic.

PS: I went the entire 2nd round of P90X with the same weight, now that's frustrating.

I wish I could move that to the nutrition section

This diet plan sounds doable. My biggest issue is that I generally eat ZERO meals at home. I'll have to pack up a cooler with this stuff.
What do you do with/put in your oat meal?
Any other suggestions for someone who has to eat on the go?

when I was losing my 116 lbs, I ran into walls like that many times. You just have to keep going. You have to increase your work out intensiity a bit. I also tweaked my diet a little, I added some things that made my body work more to digest or boost my metabolism like minced garlic, hot sauce and increased my water intake. A few weeks of that and I would get back to dropping the lbs.

Interesting, hot sauce helps increase the metabolism? Like Tabasco sauce or something?

yes, it does, 14 to 24 cals per meal. On its own. But its got an associated affect of ramping up your metabolism to increase its resting burn rate.

Before I started this journey, I went to my health club to find out what my resting metabolic weight was. I was tired of trying to figure out on my own exactly how many calories I needed per day. It was a great help in planning my diet-as it turns out I need a lot less than I originally thought. My report also gave information regarding how many calories to add with specific types of exercise and daily activities.

Most health clubs offer this service, even if you are not a member.

Good luck!

OK, big P here are some tips I used when I was on my way to lose the fat and build the muscle.

thing I learned, keep in mind I went from 225 fat, to 159 lean, back up to 178-180 buff.

it took some time, but here are the things I learned.

I had to eat on the go, and cooking 6 meals a day is out! lol

so... did you know

egg whites could be bought in stores, and are safe to drink. it dose not taste bad, just like milk, infact I would heat up my oat meal in water in the microwave, then when it was heated, I would poor in the egg whites stire and eat, or I would just drink it strait, it's safe.

also did you know...

Sweet potatos, can be cut and pealed easy! Oh and eat it raw, it taste like a juice carrot. best thing is, if you get a nice big fat one you could cut out you 3-4 0z and just put the rest in the fridge, for days even weeks!! Just cut the outside layer, and bam it's new again!

hum, what ells? Corn tortias, are good and easy on the go carbs. Whey protein will save your life! lol I'll think of more.

I still need help with my diet though, trying to follow the p90x diet, only with out all the cooking! lol maybe the man him self could drop by?! TONY?
