Weeks 1-3:

Day 1: Chest & Back
Day 2: Plyo
Day 3: Shoulders & Arms
Day 4: Yoga X
Day 5: Legs & Back
Day 6: Kenpo X
Day 7: X Stretch or REST

There is a calendar posted on the web, I believe on a website by Maggie Wang.

Are you doing the classic, lean, doubles....? P90x package explains which one is best for your goals. Do you have the workout sheets for each day of the week? This site has a spreadsheet (free) to track your workouts electronically.

You can do assisted pull ups with a chair. As you will here Tony say often, do what you can and forget the rest. You will eventually get enough strength to do more.

I'd recommend you get a set of bands with the door adapter. That way you can do more reps with the full rang of motion. You don't "lift" as much weight but you'll be able to work out everything much more thoroughly.

Need a little advice from busy people 1 Year ago Karma: 0
I started P90X last week and wanted to know if anybody had any suggestions to help me with a time and food problem. I'm a college student on the go and I eat a little all the time to keep my energy going and to keep me from starving and overeating when I get the chance to sit down and eat. I think P90X will help me more if I didn't eat late. I'm at school during the day and I work in receiving where I phyically have to move hundreds of boxes and when I get off work I'm starving from all the movement and physical labor. I guess the easiest way to demonstrate is to kinda show my schedule.

8am- wake up/breakfast
8.5am homework/study
11a- 2pm class
2.5pm lunch
3p-10p work (usually I eat sandwiches/fruit for a 30 lunch)
10.5p P90X
11.5p Dinner
midnight- bed

I try not to exercise before work because I need my strength, and I aim to go to bed at midnight so i can get 8 hours of sleep.

I get up at 4am to work out but I also have to be at work by 7:30am and don't have time after work. If I was you I would try just working out at 8am or maybe get up a little early to workout before breakfast and continue with your schedule. I always feel more energized on days I workout first thing. I haven't researched it at all but from what I've experienced, working out first thing is best. It allows my body to continue to burn calories at a higher pace all day and I don't go to bed revved up or completely exhausted since you'll have all day to "recover".

I would encourage you to work out in the morning, I think once you get into the routine you will have more energy for work rather than less. I would also suggest not eating just before bed. I am not a dietitian, however I believe that it is one of the worst things to do since it will make it difficult for you body to absorb the nutrients, and since you body is actively trying to digest the food, it makes it difficult to get a good night's rest.

If you do still work out at night, I might try a light snack prior to your workout, and maybe a light snack after the workout. I have read dairy products (warm milk, a little cheese and crackers) can actually help you to sleep better.

I actually try and get up around 5-5:30 AM to work out and then off to work. Although my job is not as physically taxing as yours.

Re:Tips for Beginners 1 Year ago Karma: 0
I noticed I failed to mention that I exercise after work because my fiance also exercises with me. She's doing a little here but not totally on the progrm or looking for results I want and am getting. I do think I have a plan. I am going to eat more and aim for about 80-90% of my diet before work. I think eating eggs and toast in the morning instead of special k will hold me longer and then i eat fruit and yogurt all day until lunch at 3. My plan is to eat basically the rest of my calories there and then I have sandwiches sometimes fruit for break at work to hold me off of starving until I get home to exercise and I drink half a protein shake before the workout and half after. Then its kinda midnight snack but better than eating a whole dinner before bed. Thanks for some of the advice and looking forward for some more.

In almost 2 weeks I actually have a different shape than round- my fat looks like the shape of the muscle under it.

Hi,

I am a medic from Canada who started the P90X with my EMS partner 3 days ago. What a humble experience to have the teachings of Tony and the P90X program. Being on call with little to do during the day what an awesome time to complete a workout. Today is day 3 and so far so good...lots of pain...can hardly walk after yesterday's leg exercise, tomorrow will be a nice day to do yoga...Please let us know where you are in your P90X journey and together we will BRING IT!!.

Darren.

Man, I have only been on the program for 1 week and I am noticing the same thing with my body. I can suddenly see some abs that are still underneath a layer of fat. But, was unable to see this about a week ago. It is pretty exciting to see results so quickly. It just motivates me even more!

Great tips! I'm only 2 day's in but giving it my all! I have a great friend/support system that say's the same, just do your best. I have to work on balance but whenever there's something I can't do to the fullest I do the best I can at it and just keep my body moving, hence some of the jumping and landing, I have no ACL but said if that guy is doing it with one leg then I can keep it going. Think of the motivators as to why you started in the first place!!! Thanks for the tips!

Re:Tips for Beginners 9 Months ago Karma: 0
Hey guys/girls, I have a question on the p90x yoga (don't worry, I'm not looking to eliminate it), but I am having considerable problems w/ it.
A) I own a yoga mat, however I'm still sliding all over the place while on it due to sweat. Any suggestions would help.
Doing a lot of the poses the day after doing shoulders, bi's, tri's, is pretty killer. Would it totally be out of context if i took my "Day 7" day off in between? Again any suggestions would be much appreciated.
