The Reason 4 Months ago Karma: 0
We all have personal reasons as to why we get into shape, and workout our bodies. There are of course the obvious reasons, such as health and fitness and such. But I wanted to find out the reasons other people are trying to get into shape, outside of just health.

For example, my personal reasons for getting into shape are that I only Like myself. I don't, as most people say, Love myself. I like my personality, and attitude, despite how cynical I can be. But I like that part of me. But when it comes to my body, I just hate it. It's the number one reason I don't even ask girls out, or even go outside of my bedroom. I am putting my faith in this P90x to pull me out of this. I realize that has a lot to do with me, and that it isn't going to happen overnight. But as he says, as long as I keep pressing play, it should get me to where I want to be.

Eh mines kinda simple. 2 parts to it really, i always have tried to stay in top shape all my life. The second part is that my wife is at basic training for the air force right now and she bet me that i was going to gain some weight while she was gone and i told her 'You will be suprised!' Soo i am basically pushing as hard as i can to get the most change possible for when i go to texas to see her in december. Its going to be great lol

for me it was 2 things. 1- my family health history, which includes: diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and various cardiac issues. i was up to 230lbs, (tho i was always on the heavier side all my life, it was closer to 200) and did not want to put myself at risk (may be too late), even tho i was relatively young.

and 2- i was getting married (back in july). wanted to be trim and in shape for those pix that will be immortalized...haha. and let me tell you, when people really start to take notice....it makes you feel really good about what you've accomplished.

my main reason is to just stay healthy and look young! i'm 30 yrs old and i have a 4 month old and a 3 yr old. i want to be able to keep up with them and not be some fat mom just sitting around watching them. also, this sounds kinda vain, but i want to be a hot mom!

also, when they are grown up and have their own lives, i want to be healthy so that my husband and i can travel and have fun like we used to before we had kids. i have some relatives that didn't take good care of themselves and they are walking around so slow like they are in their 80s when they are only in their early 60s.

cocoimloco- i agree about the wedding pictures! i don't like looking at my album b/c i'm about 20lbs heavier! i looked really good that day!

Two commmon goals reasons for me: look great, better health, perform well athletically. KainMalice, good luck on your P90X journey. Work hard and stick with it. I hope it helps you to gain some confidence.

My main reason is to stay alive and healthy as long as possible to watch my boys grow up. My mother passed away (disease) when I was only 11 and that is not something I want my kids to go through. I want them to know who their dad is and how much he loves them.

The extra benefits are looking good and keeping the sex life fun and exciting.

Just wanted to add my reason so i can further validate to myself why i am doing this so i can stay motivated....

I think my story is similar to your guys too always been on the heavy side, decided to lose weight by running etc then stopped for a while... heavy drinking had caused a major belly.... so initial aim to get rid of those habits and get the body fat % down ... also was always quite weak in the arms so want to improve strength... but more importantly i am doing this to prove to myself that i can actually finish the things I start.. which has always been my stumbling block...

good luck everyone and sorry to be corny but keep bringin it...

on a side not when did everyone start and how has it gone so far? would be great to be inpired by you guys and your stories so far...things like what has been tough but more importantly how have you been overcoming those challenges? this could be anything ofcourse...

personally i am still sturggling with the weekend binge of drinks but i am cutting it down dramatically ...my friends still look at me weirdly when i ask for a soda water with lime after my first few pints in the pub...

I'm not gonna lie, I just want a beach body! I want to be able to go to the beach and take off my shirt and not feel like a whale. Or take off my shirt while mowing the lawn and not be embarrassed of my man cans.
