Today's workout was awesome. I can hardly lift my water. I just got my Bowtech Selecttech 552's in the mail today and they were great. I'm done with bands, I've never gotten anywhere near as pumped with those things.

Anyway, If your still using bands and your getting kinda bored with the workouts, add some pushup bars and some freeweights and you'll be back to day one.

If your losing motivation, try adding something to your workouts. Sometimes on Yoga days I'll do a long distance run or go swim some laps at the pool to mix it up a bit. I've been adding runs 3X a week and it really keeps me off balance enough to keep my head in the workouts.

TOMC- when I miss a workout I punish myself with a HIIT session or some interval training. Keeps me smiling(fights the guilt too)

Haha, nice.

Yeah today rocked. I had been doing the whole program up to this point with some lame little dumbells because my fiance and I haven't gotten around to getting bigger ones.

This past weekend we went to the sporting goods store and bought some more dumbells and daaaaaammn that was an awesome workout.

My previous workouts were like in the 20's in reps because the weight was so piddly it was rediculous. I think I still need to get more weights because atleast today I was fighting to get up to 13-15. So it is moving in the right direction, but I still want bigger weights. Regardless, I think today was the first time in my life that I saw the vein in my left bicep show itself. I think that kicked my adrenalin into high gear and made me work even harder.

Hi everyone,

Glad to see everyone is still pushing play. I just completed yoga and man I just truly have not gotten with the Yoga yet. I keep going but, I swear those moves seem like the get harder and harder for me. Is there anyone in this group who is comfortable with the yoga moves that can offer any suggestions?

My numbers look really good and I can see the difference in my waist from Day 1. I went from 158lbs to 149 lbs. I lost a couple of inches on my waist from a 35in to 33in waist but, most important to me is my body fat went from a 30.0% to 28%.

For those in the group I can tell you its working so keep pushing play. I really have to look at these numbers and motivate myself on these yoga days.

Keep it up !!!!!!!

:woohoo:

Haha , no kidding. Just the other day I was doing the bicep curls and I kept thinking "Wow, look at that vein in my arm" and I felt awesome. Then I realized that I was curling the same weight as the girl on the video. At the end of the workout I was about crying cause I had to drop to 15 lbs on the last couple sets. I was so wasted it was awesome.

Re:Starting on 5/11/2009 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 4
I have and haven't gotten better with Yoga. I have gotten better in a sense that my muscles have gotten bigger so I can last through all of the vinyasa(sp?) and downward dogs, but my flexibility in some of the moves hasn't really gotten better or worse.

It doesn't seem as long as it used to since I am not struggling with the muscles as much anymore, but it does still feel tedious. The stuff that I feel I really benefit from is the last 40 min or so, the balance postures. I don't feel like I get much from the beginning besides an arm workout, but the balance postures is where I really need work. Flexibility and balance.

Yeah, I use numbers too Beanie. Whenever I want to eat something fatty, I usually think of my waist and choose to not go back to the way I used to be!

No more p90x for me, but keep it up everyone! 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 1
Hi everyone,

Glad to see everyone is still pressing play.
I am not going to be doing p90x anymore.
I have a personal trainer creating a new plan for me that is less time consuming.
Because my health and physical ability have increased I am much more active,
skating everywhere instead of driving, sailing, running and starting swimming this week.
Obviously this means my days are shorter then before, I go skating for about 1 hour a day
work, go to school etc... so I need a workout that will still provide results but take into account
all of my other physical activities.

We are going to incorporate some aspects of p90x into my workout but trimming everything
down to 45 minutes. I believe this program is the best way to discover the joys of working out
and it has given me the freedom to make working out just part of my life. I am going to finish up this week and then switch to the new workout plan.

Thanks to everyone for all the help

J

Long as you are working out, its all gravy. If I remember some of your stats, you were probably in the best shape out of all of us in the first place so I guess I can't give ya a hard time.

I just got my degree so I only have to juggle work and working out, mixing school in there would make things rough!

In all honesty, I had thought about doing something like what you are doing as well. I like swimming and jogging, but usually after my workouts I am too tired to do them. Have thought about cutting them in half so I can still go out to swim and run. However, knowing me? I would probably cut them in half, then lose motivation to go run/swim and it would just be no benefit! So! I might try it after 90 days when hopefully the working out is TRULY part of my mindset and not just daily routine.

Good luck bud.

Thats whats so great about p90x is that it can jump start you.
Honestly my trainer is including a lot of the p90x workouts into my plan
and yes your right motivation is key. Since starting to work out 13 weeks ago
I have found it easier and easier to wake up jump on the board or go for a hike.

I think we are all on the road to a great new life and I am happy to be taking
my size 36" jeans to the Goodwill today

Keep Pressing Play.

p.s. has anyone else noticed what a huge difference yoga has made!!!!
My gosh It was the one workout I disliked, but it has such great advantages.

Hey guys!

Finally on to Recovery Week #2! Sadly, I am not looking forward to it, haha. I enjoy the muscle routines much more than yoga/core/kenpo. Anyways, least we can all agree on taking a break from AbX! If I have to hear "Ha ha ha, they're working hard, I know you are!!" after obliques again I am going to go nuts.

Looking forward to day 60 pictures! Keep pushing play!

Yea, I am not big on the recovery weeks either, but I guess it is needed, so Ill do it again.
Does anyone else feel like they have slowed down a little on the progress. I am still doing well, just havent seen the results like I did in phase 1. It may be that I am just expecting to much...not slowing down though, gonna keep pushing play! I may hit a round of Insanity next...whew!

Re:Starting on 5/11/2009 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 4
I am not physically seeing that many more results, but my muscle routine worksheets suggest otherwise. So I am definately building more muscle, and my weight seems to be staying around the same, so I think that means I am losing a bunch of fat.

Gaining lots of muscle without net weight change? Sounds fine to me.

I am also noticing that I am able to do more things on each video that I haven't been doing in the previous.

Like Plyo this week I was doing the jump knee tucks and rockstars when I had previously modified them. Also in Kenpo, my knees used to not like me doing the X jumps during the breaks, but today I was "in the zone" cardiowise for 45minutes (basically the entire video minus warmup/cooldown). Heartrate monitor said I burned roughly 800 calories! wow!

So while the mirror isn't telling me much more, I am still certainly feeling changes going on.

Well, good point Tom, I am seeing the same thing. I can complete each video...can't do yoga very well though, but everyhing else...the reps and weights are increasing and I see the same thing...weitht is about the same but am doing more. When I started I could only do 3 pullups and now am doing 8 unassisted and then doing more with the chair in each set...so I guess I am in the same boat.

I haven't really seen any physical change at all during phase 2, and my reps haven't really gone up either. I've been slacking a lot lately, skipped legs/back twice, plyo once, haven't done x-stretch in 2 weeks. I think I'm going to break off from you guys a little and repeat week 7, and really bring it next week. Only thing I'm really debating is if I should do day 60 pics / measurements, or wait till day 67 (but I'll be doing day 60's work that day...) I could just do both, so I'd have 0-30-60-67 and then I guess do the same for the end, take an actual 90, and then a completion set (day 97 for me).

I don't see a big change in my measurements but I was in a quite good shape before I started P90X. I suppose it's difficult to lose weight when it is in a healthy, normal range. Speaking of weight, it is slightly higher (1kg). My shoulders are more muscular and there is no sign of 'bingo' muscles at all. My arms are very firm. (If you don't know what a bingo muscle is then think of a fat bicep that swings in the ear when its owner rises a card and shouts 'bingo'. I can see more definition in the abs area and I lost fat from my back just above hips. Overall, I see a slightly leaner body with smoother, longer curves which makes me very happy.
I'll be adding LSB (long slow burn) in the recovery week but only every other day using a treadmill and see if I will burn additional fat.
Keep up the good work everyone!

Hi everyone,

Wow, we have made it to week 8 yet another Recovery week. You know I have been reading what you guys are saying and I think it is true for me too. I haven't seen as big of a weight loss as I did the 1st 30 days and I feel as if I'm slowing down a lot. Of course, I haven't been following the diet to the letter either. I have been very pleased though with the way my muscles are starting to form. I can see my arms starting to form muscles and some in my abs.

I hate the recovery week only because of the Yoga twice out the week. I am used to Core so that's not a problem. I will be concentrating on really bringing it the next phase.

Good Work everyone, lets keep pushing through. Thanks for being there and keeping our group going. This motivation keeps me pushing play.

Well, I am glad it isn't just me then! ha
I am starting to see my abs starting to form a little, which is nice...although that also seems to be the most stubborn area for me...
Yea, I don't care for the yoga either....am ready to bring it hard next phase as well!!
Yall have a great one!

Woa....I actually almost enjoyed Yoga yesterday!

Still would be nice if it was shorter, but I was starting to be able to concentrate and clear my mind. Could stay in deep lunges during the entire warrior series (when he says you can straighten your leg if you get tired, didn't have to!) Arms never gave out in all of the vinyasa and downward dogs.

Balance postures even went pretty well. I still can't do Crane worth a damn, but its getting there. Its not really that I am not strong or coordinated enough, it just hurts my wrists. Then had my feet on the ground during the plow! Can't quite get my knees around my ears yet, but moving in that direction.

Looking forward to Core again. First recovery week, the Core kicked my butt, curious to see my progression since then.

Wow, that's really odd. I felt the same way. I really hated doing the Yoga because I always felt like I was such a failure at it and would never get the moves down to where I was comfortable to make it through the whole dvd but, yesterday I felt like TomC it was almost pleasant. I made it through all the downward dogs comfortably. Way to go TomC. I think we are getting there. Good luck tonight. I used to Core since I do the Lean program that's usually what I do on Mondays.

Anyone else find that Kenpo is getting really easy? I don't know if its because its a recovery week so I have more energy than normal? or what....

I was doing Kenpo yesterday and I was actually having a hard time staying in my zone. I was barely breaking a sweat. It wasn't until the first break that I hit my zone. Earlier on in our progress I used to have to take the break, get water, etc....but now, I am not modifying ANYTHING and highknees and X jumps every time without stopping. I still burned a lot of calories, but I felt like I probably could have done more if I was able to stay in my zone. Any of the exercises that used my arms, my heartrate just dropped down. Isn't until the breaks that I really get it back up from the non-stop body movement.

Anyone else having problems keeping their heartrate up during Kenpo? I might start doing CardioX and Kenpo on the same day. I was still bringing it to the same level as previous Kenpo sessions if not more.

I would suggest adding more intensity to Kenpo rather than doing additional session of Cardio. That was my choice anyway, primarily because I thought I will get bored of Cardio too soon but also, because I wanted to stay in my zone throughout the whole workout. Today, I think, was my fourth time that I used ankle and glove (you can also use wrist) weights while doing Kenpo. They definitely bring more intensity. You can really feel the difference and boy, doing the same jumping jacks but without this additional weight is so easy!!

I've aslo started wearing a weight jacket (which is called a 20 pound conditioning vest) while doing my additional cardio in this second recovery week. The great thing about this vest is that you can adjust the weight, which is really cool because I can wear it for different types of exercises.

Congratulations Tom. It seems like you are doing pretty well.
