Day One Down!
Hooray! After feeling a bit intimidated, I have day one down and I feel great. I made it through, but let me tell you I don't have high numbers for reps and all my pull ups were with the aid of a step, but I think it still helps. I do think I will need to get higher weights for the lawnmowers. I have 8 lbs. but I tried my second round with 10 and felt the burn better. I've viewed tomorrow's routine of plyo and it looks demanding but fun. Tony keeps it interesting. I tried to drink a recovery drink afterwards and about puked on the flavor so I had some 2% milk instead. The situps are challengiing and I'm feeling some of them more in my legs and back than my stomach, so I really need to pause more and focus on form. Anyways, good luck to you all starting tomorrow. Don't worry about taking breaks to keep going! Just get 'er done!

I'm stoked for everyone starting tomorrow. I feel bad as I started the thread but everyone, keep going!! I'm only doing this cause I haven't worked out in a long time and I want to make sure that when I start, I start off right and continue through it! I'm having a hard time cutting back on the beers, so its kind of killing my recovery! But, by Wed I'll be off the beer and by Friday I'll be off the ciggs!
So, I'm hoping that by Monday next week I will have done most of the workouts and be ready for action. I can say that only after 2 of the DVD's I'm already feeling the burn and I'm still kinda hurting so I'm pretty sure this is going to be one intense workout regimen. I'm looking forward to keeping up to date with everyone and sharing my progress throughout the months to come. Everyone keep in touch and good luck!

Day one completed!!
Those dive bomber pushups are INSANE!! It's going to be fun to see how I progress w/ that exercise.
I didn't get a chance to go purchase a heart monitor over the weekend but I'm going to get one today. I'm not sure if I pushed myself hard enough. I didn't want to overdo it but I'm not sure if I was too lax. Ab Ripper X was pretty tough for me. Thank goodness we don't do that everyday.
Good luck to the rest of y'all who haven't exercised today. It's hard but not as bad as I thought it would be. My muscles are fatigued so I know I will be sore later today.
Can't wait to read what everyone else has to say.

Nice job! yeah I've heard we have dive bombers in this video and I remember them from back in the day for football pratice, those are tough! Haven't exercised yet.......think more around 6 o'clock after work is when I'll get this workout in. Super stoked, taking my before photos today aswell. Starting off right so far, protein shake upon waking up and around 9:30 had a turkey, spinach, and cheese egg white scramble (The chef calls it "The Dave" here at work.....) with two wheat toast and some peanut butter. Don't know if thats good, you guys more than welcome to help me out on the dieting.......thats my worst part.
Will try to write it how my exercises go later on today! Good luck everyone!

While I technically don't start the program until next week, I did the Chest and Back workout today. Thought it went pretty well. Just trying to get my muscles used to the exercises, so I took it fairly easy with the reps. Even then, I still felt it pretty good by the end. I feel it most in the arms and chest, but hopefully I back still got a good workout. I can only do like 3 pullups, so I basically used a chair for every type of pullup.
Also, I'm using resistance bands instead of weights, which will take some getting used to. I feel like my form wasn't all that good on the back fly's or whatever they were called. But that's why I'm testing out the workouts first before starting the program....want to make sure I can hone in on the problems when the time comes.
Also, quick question, what is the difference between standard form pushups and military push ups? They look almost exactly the same. Are you hands just slightly closer together in the military pushups?

Yes, that's what I understand. The arms are lined up with the shoulders & the hands are inside just a bit.

Just make sure to keep your elbows "glued" to the side of your body. Mine keep wanting to point outward so I have to really work on those. Great job everyone so far! My arms are really sore today but I am still functional. Don't worry about the reps. I could only do like 4 of the divebombers/diamond push ups/reverse push ups and 7-10 of some of the other pull ups, even with the chair to assist. I didn't want to totally tear up my arms and get discouraged on day one, so as long as I can keep going, I am happy.
I'm getting ready to start plyometrics right now. I watched it yesterday and it looks fun but hard.
I have one other question for everyone, if you are trying to lose weight, are any of you doing any additional cardio on the days we do strength training? I feel like I need to add some more calorie burning.

Anyone mind me jumping in?
Just did my first workout yesterday, and wow I am sore! Especially in my shoulders. I couldn't do any of the dive bombers and only can do about 4-6 pullups with a chair. I'm doing the classic even though I have about 50 pounds to lose because I want the strength part of the program. I am dieting already, and have lost about 22 pounds so far. I also do 15-20 mins of cardio per day as a warm up for p90x.
I had a hard time passing the fit test for cardio. I am starting off with 6, 8, and 10 pound dumbells. We'll see what happens after that! I'm a vegetarian so my diet is pretty different. I get a lot of protein from tofu. The thing I will miss most is beer and cocktails!

Plyo isn't so bad! Got it done. If you're used to some cardio and squats, it isn't so bad. I kept up the whole time and I originally didn't think I was going to be able to. I checked out arms for tomorrow and looking forward to it. I figure by Wednesday morning I will pretty much be sore all over! Of all things, my tailbone hurts, so I must have been rocking too much on some of those situps yesterday. I couldn't do the ones where you grab the leg on the way up very well, as well as the ones where you are flat on your back, legs straight and open and having to come all the way up and over. My stomach muscles just aren't strong enough to pull me up without some type of jerking motion. Any recommendations on an alternate move for that? Maybe knees bent? Anyways, good luck everyone. I'm excited we're all getting off the ground.
Cheers,
Irene

Just finished Plyo. it kicked my butt! I did lots of "modifying" because of the extra pounds. I can't jump around and catch some air, but I did all the exercises - didn't dog it. I can feel it in my quads for sure.
Just ate some of my homemade veggie soup with tofu - no salt. I sprinkle a tablespoon of parm on just to cure the cheese craving. I think cheese is my biggest weakness!

I wouldn't be too worried about cheese. In the Nutrition Guide, cheese is listed under both the dairy group and the snack group. For dairy, one portion would be either 1 oz low-fat cheese or 3 oz Parmesan cheese. And for snacks, a single snack serving is 1 oz low-fat cheese.

My suggestion is to keep trying. Even if you can't do many just work on your form. As your core gets stronger you'll be able to do them better each week.

I just read over Tony's blogs and he recommends sheep or goat cheeses like feta. I will try to substitute those cheeses instead of cow's milk cheeses. I love feta! (but then again I love just about any cheese!)
Geez, I'm sore! Upper back from yesterday, and even my feet hurt after Plyo. Hurts so good!!

Got day 1 done with last night and man it was killer. The Pushups, aside from the obvious ones that are insanely hard (dive bombers) I actually hit in the range of 20 to upto 35 pushups on certain ones. I did struggle ALOT of the pullups, I believe the most I did on any of them is 5.....
Abs.....I dont want to even speak of....... that was a monster all by itself, I also struggle alot with the abs, barely being able to do any of the exercises in the video.......I guess I'll keep trying my hardest! Hope all you guys are doing good, Day 2 Wooooooooo!

Man, I thought I took it easy on the workout yesterday, and was worried that I didn't work out my back enough cause I didn't feel anything, but boy do I feel it today. Gotta love that feeling though

Do you guys mind if I join the fun?
I've already created a log in the 'Daily Logs' section, so you can read more about me over there.
I completed Chest and Back yesterday, and have Plyo to do later today.
Also, maybe we should create our group a thread in the logs page? That way we can all contribute to our groups Daily log and keep track of how everyone is doing. It just might be a more appropriate place to put that sorta thing.
Keep bringing it!

Finished arms and shoulders today. At first I thought "oh this is easy compared to the other workouts" until I wanted to puke (just a little). It really made my neck and upper back burn!
I still can't do the abs sideways things very well, but my coordination is better and I feel good, but tired. Did 15 mins on the elliptical as a warmup. Need to get my cardio improved to keep up with the workouts. Had to push "pause" several times because I was winded.

Welcome DBHuggins! The more the merrier!
Well, I am half done with day 3. Did my shoulders and arms today, still need to do my ab ripper too. I gotta say, I woke up still sore from chest and back. But today's workout seemed the "easiest" so far at least for me. I am so proud of everyone that is trying so hard regardless of what level we are at. I think my most challenging item today was the last exercise where you are basically doing a sideways one-armed push up to work the tricep. That was killer!
I have to admit, I helped at a luncheon today and for the first time since August, I fell off the food wagon. Not a good week to do that. So I plan on riding on my stationary bike to burn some additional calories after I do abs.
Is anyone else waking up sore during the night? Might need to take some alleve. I am functional during the day, but at night the soreness really settles in. Looking forward to Yoga tomorrow!
Cheers,
Irene

Thanks!
I'm confused - am I behind a day? I started yesterday with C&B + ABX. I just finished Plyo today. But you all are working on Abs and Shoulders?
Anyhow - Plyo... Wow... I paused that thing about 10x. My goal next time is only to break when they do (but maybe extend it to 1min if I have to.) My heart rate was over the top (175+) for most of the workout, but that is attributed to my complete neglect to physical fitness over the last few years. I worked my butt off though, so at least I can sleep easy knowing I brought it.
Looks like my girlfriend and roommate are jumping on board, so I'll also keep you guys posted on their progress (they're starting in better shape than me)

DB, I am a day ahead as I had to start early. I'm going out of town for the weekend and needed to plan my rest day for Saturday. Great job on completing your day! It's great you have some converts!
