yoga-x seriously does suck.

it hard trying to clear my mind, when i keep falling down or looking at the screen and going
And the fact that its 90mins long doesnt help one bit.

I feel guilty for cutting out as well!

I may try Tony Horton's 1 on 1 Fountain of Youth Yoga. http://www.weightloss-hq.biz/weight-loss-forum/exercises/austin-s-review-th-1-on-1-fountain-of-youth-yoga.html#28652

I had a hard time w/ Yoga X too yesterday. It seemed to go on forever. I didn't feel that way last week. I think one problem was I was hungry the entire time. I should have eaten something before starting. I did it all except I stopped when at the very end w/ the "ohmmms". I hope I don't feel like that next week b/c I do enjoy the workout. My back feels awesome and my flexibility is surprising.

Thanks for the info about the calories from beachbody.com. I'm suppose to be eating around 2200 calories but I've been eating more like 1800. I do want to lose eat and I've been concerned that I'm not eating enough and it will catch up to me. I have lost 2 lbs. since starting a 1.5 ago. My goal is to get to 119 so only 14.5 pounds to go.

The pictures you posted Stojakapimp are really good. How did you post in that format? I hope I can post pictures of my results in the future.

Have a great day, everyone!

I too despise yoga. The hardest part (to me) is trying to make the poses, while trying to turn my head up to watch for correct form and when to move, etc. I'm going to keep giving it a shot, but after Phase 1, I may join you all in finding a replacement.

Oh yeah, I'm from Birmingham AL.

Thanks, Kara. I used Google's Picasa to create a collage. I then used Gimp to resize the pictures to the limits that can go on this website. This could have probably been done in Picasa as well, but I used Gimp (it's like a free Photoshop).

Also, sad to hear that so many people dislike Yoga and might ditch it altogether. I personally have never done Yoga before in my life, and yes it's a loooong routine, but I do enjoy it. I feel that the benefits will be well worth the time that I invest in it. But I do understand it's not for everybody...and if it's the deciding factor between sticking with P90X or not, then definitely think about switching it up.

Also, fightFATblogger, I find it hard to believe that even with hitting all your portions (are you doing level 2 or level 3?) you're only consuming 1700-1800 calories a day. What types of foods are you eating that are so low calorie? If I eat all my portions, then I exceed my 2,400 calories limit....I find myself having to cut out a bar or carb here and there to stay around the 2,400 mark.

But yeah, like other's have said, I would just listen to your body. If you find that you're having to stuff yourself silly to reach 2,500 calories, then that's probably not good.

stojakapimp – The program is telling me to consume 3240 calories which is crazy in my opinion.

I am following the level 2, phase 1 plan
7-Proteins
3-Dairy
1-Fruit
4-Veggies
1-Fat
1-Carb
3-Double Snacks
2-Condiments

P90X workout - 5:30am

7am-P90x Recovery Drink – 1 snack
8am-FiberOneBar – 1 snack
8am-Protein shake w/skim milk – 1 dairy, 1 1/2 protein
10am-Banana – 1 fruit
12pm-6oz chicken, 1 oz feta, 2 cups lettuce, 2tbl dressing – 2 protein, 1 veggie , 1 dairy, 1 cond.
3pm-Yoplait lite yogurt mixed with flax seed – 1 dairy, 1 fat
5:30pm- 3oz turkey breast strips, 1 1/2 cup broccoli, 1 1/2cup asparagus – 1 protein, 3 veggies
6:00pm – veggie burger w/ mustard on English muffin– 1protein, 1 cond., 1 carb
7:30pm – Protein shake w/ skim milk 1- dairy, 1 ½ protein

Total 1783 calories

This example, I had an extra dairy. I usually do not have a snack but if I do, it does not exceed 200 calories…so I would still be under 2000. Also, to keep my protein, carb, fat ratio to 50-30-20...i elminate the english muffin on the veggie burger.

I am not hungry and full of energy throughout the day.

Re:Starting November 9th . . . who wants to join?!?! 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I am on Day 5 and I have not broke the 1900 calorie mark.

I mentioned it before but all week I have been posting questions on this topic because I am concerned about having my low calorie intake causing a reverse affect...meaning not losing fat and not gaining muscle.

I read that one person had the same issue as me and the beachbody staff person replied to him that as your metabolism increases, your appetite will. Now, if my appetite does increase all i have room for is an extra "snack"...i am pretty much eating all my portions. I am being very aware on I how I feel seeing that I think I fall into the minority group with my calorie intake being so low from what p90x is telling me to eat. Who knows, this is only week one, i may need more next week.

I think I eat a lot, does anyone look at what I eat and think it's nothing? Maybe I just picked the right foods??

I'm shocked that all of that is under 1,800 calories, but I do believe it. I hit the portion plan on the head as well, but my calories are right around 2,400. I guess I'm just eating things that are higher in calories.

I do agree that 3,240 calories is pretty crazy, but you shouldn't be too surprised that eating nearly half that many calories would raise some red flags for some people. But if you feel like you have enough energy and your body isn't telling you otherwise, then stick with what you're doing. Like you said, you're hitting all your portions, so at least you're getting those nutrients.

EDIT:
Actually, I think one of the reasons why my calories are higher is because I've been eating a ton of salmon, which I think is much higher in calories than say chicken would be. I'm fasting from meat (excluding seafood) right now, so my protein is going to be mostly made up from fish.

Re:Starting November 9th . . . who wants to join?! 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hi everyone!

Well today I ended week two on kenpoX. It almost seems like an eternity since starting. Congratulations Ellen on the accomplishment of being removed from your BP med. That is fantastic!

I am one of those yoga-haters but it didn't seem so bad this second time around. Yes, it is long. But this time I saved it for the end of the day and I think I liked it better because I was using it more for a wind-down rather that being bored to tears in the morning thinking about everything else I could be doing. I'm gonna stick with it through the end of this phase and then see what I want to do about it. I was a little more flexible the second time through, so that is good.

By the way, I am in Tustin, CA. Nice to see some local folks as well as cross-country people on board! I maybe lost a pound since starting, but I feel toner. I gotta review my calorie intake since you all are on the subject. My question is, when you all are talking about your total calories per day, is that including calories you've burned from your workouts? I'm eating 1,384 per day NOT including extra calories that I consider cancelled out from working out, which usually amounts to about 500-600 extra calories. I am 5'2" and currently weigh 143, trying to get to 130.

Good job everyone on another week well done. Looking forward to my rest day tomorrow.

Cheers,
Irene

I do not consider the calories I burn when talking total calories, my total reflects all of the food i consume.

I assumed everyone else was doing the same but i am not sure. I have read you should minus about 600 calories (average) when doing the p90x workouts so if i consume 1800, i guess it's really 1200. I am new to this nutrition thing, last weekend as well as others in the past I was drinking beers watching a game while eating nachos and pizza...now I am browsing the internet leaving post on weight lost forums. I think this will be my life for the next 90 days!

Re:Starting November 9th . . . who wants to join?! 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I'm a level 2 (2400 calories), but with my schedule I can really only consume 1800 to 2000. I've dropped just under 10 pounds since starting (tomorrow finishes up week two) so whatever I'm doing is working for my body. I like what has been said... pay attention to your own body.

2k reflects total intake.

I'm even taking Sunday and making it a day off-ish from the diet too. I allow for more carbs and football watching food. Gotta live a little.

After p90x I know that I can't sustain such a strict regimen. My Dad, who is a vegetarian, advocates constructing a diet that is sustainable for life. I have some friends that are so extreme with their diet that they literally brought their own food and cooked it when they came to visit a while back... seriously? My wife and I travel... we'll be living overseas in a couple of years... so I can't live on a diet that isn't flexible.

I also refuse to make 'working out' what defines me. I'm doing this program to get in shape, and right now this program is completely consuming my life. If I'm not whooped and recovering after a workout, then in my spare time I'm thinking about calories, carbs, and the workout of the day. This is definitely impetus for me to continue a lifestyle of activity, which includes exercise, eating healthy, etc., but I'm more of a 'spirit of the law' kind of guy, so I know I'll be liberal.

Anyway...my two cents.

Cheers to Tustin... my Dad was stationed there and at El Toro in the Marines during the early 80's. I grew up in Lake Forest. Great place to grow up... at least in the 80's... probably a lot more crowded now.

My calorie count is just the food consumed - not taking into account exercise, because it is impossible to know exactly how many calories your body burned during a workout (without being in a laboratory of some sort). I'm shooting for 1000 cal/day, +300 on Pylo days.

Crossing my fingers that this will get me to my weight goal of 125-130 by April. I'm SUPER motivated and I'm not giving up - even for Christmas (or Thanksgiving either)!!
