I am pretty much a Tuna guy (canned) and chicken forall my protein. But I always drink a recovery drink and if I feel I didn't get a lot of protein in on the day, I will have an extra drink, packed with 20g of protein per scoop.

Yea I am not getting enough calories either but I just can't stuff my face if I am not hungry and I am such a busy person, hard to find time to eat a lot actually.

Time for bed and getting up early tomorrow to do Yoga (not so excited but everyone says it helps so I'll be doin it)

Kenpo was great this morning! The soreness is working itself out...now just a bit stiff. Legs and shoulders are where the stiffness is. My energy level has been down over the past two days. Not sure what the issue is...I am getting about 2500 calories a day from all "good" food. I am going to up my carbs tonight to see if it will make a difference. Looking forward to the rest day tomorrow and some stretching. All in all, the week has been fantastic. Went from eager excitement...to feeling like I was going to die...to now pumped up and excited again.

I am drinking Whey protein in a tall glass of 2% chocolate milk. Did wonders in High School when I was a middle line backer, and does me right now

Re:Starting June 6th 9 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 1
I'm with some of you on not getting enough calories. By the book I'm supposed to eat 3000 cal per day. With the type of foods I'm eating I can't seem to get there. I'm only eating 1500-1800 cal per day, but I don't have any fatigue. In fact I feel more energized I believe from the workouts and the fact that I'm not eating junkfood. I'm also afraid to eat anything modestly high in carbs and most of my snacks are protein bars, beef jerky, and cottage cheese. My evening meals are usually chicken breast and broccoli, tuna, and shrimp pasta(frozen, its actually pretty good.)

On another note now that everybody's getting close to a week down, what did evry think was the most difficult workout. I think Chest/back was the hardest(I still can't do more than 2 real pullups, I modify by putting 1 leg on the chair), plyo caused the most soreness, and yoga was the most suprisingly hard in terms of my expectations. Ab ripper gets a little mor tolerable every time I do it.

Re:Starting June 6th 9 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
WOW! How lucky am I to have found this thread! I also started on June 8th and have been bringing it since then! Yoga today definitely was much harder than I had expected (especially since i watched a bit of it the night before and thought to myself, this cant be that bad). Instead i found myself dripping sweat onto my yoga mat haha.

As many of you, i was also slightly struggling when meeting the calorie requirements, I'm classified as a level 2 so get at least 2400 calories a day, ive been hitting pretty close, and ive been eating more protein than i need and staying under my carbs/fats. (ill attach a pic to show you what i mean). although i need some experienced input on whether or not i am eating correctly, since im new to this whole portion/size/calorie counting kinda stuff (never thought id be a person who weighed my food and looked at the "Nutritional Facts" on everything i eat, since i am actually a college athlete and play basketball lol)

main reason for starting up p90x is just to get in top elite athlete shape, i've always been pretty chubby back then but i've def slimmed up much much more since my younger days and am trying to lose that last amount of body fat. I've been hitting the weights on and off for 2 years, started in grade 11 summer and been on and off, p90x is really the first program that i am fully dedicating my time/diet. Before i use to only eat whatever, since i usually burned most of it, but recently i went on vacation for a few months and ate like complete crap and gained some fat on my belly section.....

my upper body is alright but i wanna bulk up and lose that fat around my midsection and get more toned....also wanna size up my chest, always have had a problem building that definition (prob from the fat covering it).

ANYWAYS, sorry for the EXTREMELY LONG post, i just wanted to share my background so you all know where im coming from, and im sticking to this forum and will be checking in each day/updating/posting pics of my meals. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US and hopefully we can all get some GREAT RESULTS!

Remember, no pain no gain

On day 5 now. Feeling better, less sore. Did yoga last night. I really need more flexibility! I really worked up a sweat, although I was unable to do some of the more advanced moves, I actually enjoyed it. I too, am having difficulty in getting in all of the calories (that's never been a problem before). Can't wait to get home and see what torture is in store for my legs!

I agree, yoga really stretched me out and Im not as sore as before. My thighs have been killing me since Ploy. It limited my performance on yoga so tonight will be interesting. How many of you can do the crane? I skipped that cause it felt like I was going to roll into my TV.

yoga was definitely tough haha although you feel so good after, i can do the crane for around 10 secs before my arms give out and my thighs start to hurt from the pressure of my elbows/arms. only my first time doing it yesterday so hopefully that will improve later on!

about to do legs/back.....will post back in a few

Looks like everyone had a great week. Welcome to all the new folks to the thread. I think it helps to be held accountable by folks going through the same thing. It was nice to have an "off" day. Still got up at 4 am...but went to work instead. I am still fighting the fatigue issue, still not sure what that is all about. I will be watching my food a ton better.

One of the folks in my squadron has a degree in nutrition and I posed the whole chocolate milk thing at him. He raised his eyebrow and said it was loaded with simple sugar. I took it that he didn't approve. So, I am sticking with my myoplex, banana, and blueberries for now.

I thought the chest and back workout was by far the hardest. I have to modify with a chair too so I can get the benefits of pullups. In fact, it totally kicked my rear end. Today is the first day that I haven't been sore. BTW...no crane for me...not that talented. Ha!

One week in the books....time to start again tomorrow. Let's Roll.....

Re:Starting June 6th 9 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Just finished chest and back...actually...just chest. I must have injured my shoulder last week. Went down for the very first push up and my right shoulder came on fire. So....gave it a minute and tried again...no dice....one more time for good luck and no dice. So....after my little pity party I just decided to bring it extra hard on all the back exercises and forget the rest. Cranked through ARX....still tough for me, but getting a little bit better. Crunchy frog ripped my shoulder some more. Plan for the week...I am not quitting...going to back off on anything that pulls on the shoulder and go and get some on the other exercises. Hopefully next saturday will hold a different tune. Any suggestions from ya'all?

Diet has been floundering a bit...time to tighten up! Hooah!

Welcome Mike. I'm starting week 2 today and have to admit that motivation is lacking today. I'll fight through it and get on with chest/back and abs.

What's up Rock Stars?! How was the weekend. I hit both days and feel great. Plyo was challenging as ever. ...I did feel a little stronger during it. My motivation was lacking big time but I still brought it strong. The shoulder is still tight, so I will see how it goes tomorrow morning during the shoulder/arm workout. If I have to I will minimize the shoulders and maximize the arms to keep on track. The diet stunk a bit this weekend, but will refocus tomorrow morning. I hope all of you are bringing it STRONG!

Re:Starting June 6th 9 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Well today was day 7 (end of my first week with P90). Today I felt kinda tired for some reason.. I opted to rest today since it gave us an option. I did ride my bike for 30 minutes worth of cardio to help take off some of the calories I ate. I haven't budged much weight wise and I am trying to follow the diet as close as possible. I miss some and I overdo some in my diet plan.

The biggest thing I have noticed is my body has tigtened up some and I am starting to feel more toned muscle under my skin. Kempo to me was the easiest one. Plyo was the toughest. I don't have the pull up bar yet tho so this is based on everything minus the pull up bar.

I guess I need to get the P90 drink and start with that part of the program.

Back to the cycle of programs for the start of week 2.

Re:Starting June 6th 9 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Gah! I dropped off the map for a bit, didn't I? welp, I got in my second chest and back and was definintely able to do more pushups this time around, so that was encouraging. I can't do a single pullup (not one, not even modified), so I stuck with resistance bands at an angle that mimics a pullup and still felt a solid burn (granted, not as much as if i'd been lifting my own body weight).

I missed my plyo night, but got up and did it the following morning. I tend to get migraines really easily (I'm on preventative medications daily), and I noticed that by the time the calf cross jump (don't remember what it is called) comes along, all the jumping and bouncing has pounded my brain against my skull enough that I feel one start to come on. This has happened both times I've done plyo, so I think at that point, what I'll just start doing is just rapid calf lifts without jumping--taking out the impact--otherwise, I just lose it. I can't do it anymore, because my head starts to hurt too much.

My diet suffered a bit this weekend, and part of me is saying that I should just try to practice portion control. Some of this diet just really isn't practical for my lifestyle and just causes me extra stress, which might keep me from sticking with the exercise. Like I said, I work a lot, and I am out of town a lot, which means I don't have access to a regular kitchen. I could be perfectly content eating a cup of cottage cheese and a fiber bar all day and that being it.

I tend to not eat a lot quite a bit of the time, and sometimes I just forget to eat at all in the evenings. I've been losing energy, and I don't have a whole lot of time or the resources necessary to continue to prepare meals like they recommend. *sigh*

I don't know.

Re:Starting June 6th 9 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 1
Just did my second round of plyo. That is one intense workout. I feel like after I've done the first two workouts of the week I'm more than halfway done with the week. Chest and back was easier this week and I was able to do many more reps.

I hope everyone is still out there "bringing it". Its seems like activity on the board has slowed, but I guess the next two weeks is more of the same.
