Hello all. I posted here back in April 08 and never got to start back then. I am happy to say that I just got back from the store. I bought a 30 lb total dumbbell set with removable 2.5 and 1.25 lb weights, a set of 20 lb. dumbbells for my hubby to start with and a cheapy Gold's Gym pull up bar that mounts in the door (it was only $11, so we'll see!). That should do until next pay period! My husband and I will start tomorrow. We both have the spreadsheet in Google Docs (which is great since we don't have Excel). I am ready to get my butt kicked! I'll take photos tonight of us, but I'm not going to post them until day 30, so there will be some progress to compare. He's not one for these forums, so I will try to keep up with the updates on here. Yay, we are ready to BRING IT!

Thanks. I am actually cringing at the moment from my husband mounting the brackets with the drill. UGH! Yes, at 8pm! Oh well, it will be worth it.

Good luck! I attempted to lose 20 pounds last New Years, but I am still the same weight. I plan on starting back up tomorrow. I attempted to start last month. I was waking up at 4am to do two workout videos before work and I got a bicylce on an indoor trainer for the evenings. After the first week, I found myseld sleeping in. I also stopped pedaling on the bike when a good show on tv caught my attention. Oh, and I fell for the holiday snacks all around. I put on the only 5 pounds I had lost the entire year. Tomorrow, I am back up at 4am to try it again! Wish me luck! Good luck to you.

Hey there! My hubby and I are also starting today. I played around with Cardio X, ARX and Plyo on Thursday and Friday. Silly me went hiking UPHILL on Sat, and needless to say, my thighs, butt and hips were NOT HAPPY with me. Plyo is a butt-kicker!
My hubby isn't much for these forums either, but I'll be reporting on our progress as we go. Workouts tonight!

Good luck to you all! I can't do workouts first thing in the morning without almost passing out/vomiting! My best time is about 2 hours after breakfast. It's the same way with no/low carb...can't do it for more than 5 days or my body wants to shut down on me. That's why I am gonna do my own nutrition. I know how/what to eat to be healthy and to control portion size. I did it before with success, I just have to make it a life change! Hubby started Day 1 Classic at around 8am and I started a little after 10am. The Ab Ripper X was tough on him. He was hit by a car as a child and has since struggled with some back issues. He did about half of the abs and felt discouraged, but I told him, he did his best and that's what it's all about. He totally rocked the push ups and pull ups though (I am proud of him yet hate him at the same time! ). I however rocked through the Ab Ripper X (for the most part), but suck horribly with push ups and pull ups. I do them girlie style on my knees, but I did my best and I know by day 90 I will rock some out on my toes! Ready for tomorrow!

Got 2 workouts under my belt. Not too sore though, which is shocking, considering my arms were sore last night. Maybe I didn't bring it enough? I thought I did...sure felt like it.

Well my wife and I completed day two this morning (0430)and what a workout. I'm just glad I didn't eat before hand. As of now our chest, back, abs, butt, inner thighs and hip flexers are really feeling it and it's only day 2!!! I know the pain will subside but the questions is whether we will be able to function by the end of the week. I'm already looking forward to Sunday!!! Seems that more time is spent on trying to eat right than anything. Pretty fatigued and the ole body is having a hard time adjusting to the new diet. Have had quite the headache the last two days, I know it too will pass. Will follow up more later.
Peace Out!!

I am so glad I test drove a few of the workouts last week. I finished day 3 this morning, and I'm not that sore. I started feeling my chest, abs and back a little last night, but nothing I can't handle. Far cry from the tail end of last week when I could barely move. I definitely felt ARX this morning and was grunting so much my dogs came to see what the problem was...lol.
Hubby is working hard too. When I got home yesterday he was sweating his way through plyo, and ended up soaking in the tub last night. He is sore, sore, sore! Getting aggravated at me cuz I'm functioning like normal while he's stiff. He should have given the workouts a try before now is what I say.

Oh yes, we are definitely feeling the burn, but it's a good burn! I know it sounds weird, but the puffiness in my tummy is down already. Amazing how quickly a proper diet and workouts will expell excess water! I got my butt kicked with Plyo yesterday. I just thank the good lord for my previous Jillian and Denise workouts because my legs were kinda prepared! I was slammed with a VERY stuffy head cold in addition to sore throat, so after that workout, I was confined to the couch the rest of the day......New England weather will do that though! Feel better today, so I will be on day 3 here shortly.

I hear ya on the tummy puffiness! I noticed this morning that mine is down as well. I was kind of thought that it was just wishful thinking on my part, that NO WORKOUT could show results that quickly, but since I'm not the only one experiencing it, it must be true.
We need to get some different weights, that's for sure...we have 1,2,3,5 and 10. On shoulders/arms this morning, 10's were too heavy for some things, too light for others, and the 5's were too light. Got to get some 8, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35. Can't really get that good burn on 12-15 reps unless I hold a 5 and 3 in one hand or a 10 and a 2. Not safe.

I started with 3, 5, 8, 10lb. Now in Round 2 I am using 5, 8, 10, 13.5, 15, 20, 25 & 29lb. I have dumbbells, and adjustable plate dumbbells (13.5 & 29lb). I have 2 little foam dumbbell trees, and shove my adjustable plate dumbbells (2 pair) under the chair. Your husband is definitely going to need heavier weights, and with there being two of you, the adjustable Bowflex-type doesn't make sense. I bought weights as I needed them. If you buy 8, 12 & 15, that might keep you going for a few weeks, then get the 20 & 25.

Yes, hubby will definitely need heavier weights. Right now, he's nursing a sore shoulder (possible rotator cuff tear, he REFUSES to go to the Dr...MEN!!), so he's taking it easy and not wanting to go too heavy. We're working out at different times which helps, me at the crack of dawn and him after work. It just makes more sense for me to workout in the morning before the kids go to school. The only exception will be yoga, and only because I prefer to do that at night and get nice and relaxed before bed.

I ALWAYS keep a puffy tummy unless I am working out. I can have a good routine going for months and literally 2 or 3 days after I stop, the water weight creeps back on....even if I keep to healthy eating! I don't even drink soda either! I guess us women were just stuck with all these hormones that make us swell! Just finished Shoulders and Arms and Abs and I feel really great. It seems to have cleared up my nostrils (for now anyway!).

I started on the 5th. I am in AGONY!!!!! I did body for life all thru 2008 and NEVER felt the pain I feel from just 3 days of P90x. I'm actually looking forward to Yoga tonight, though I've heard it's not as "relaxing" as other forms of Yoga...haven't even watched Tony's take on Yoga yet... wonder what I'm in for HAHA

The most relaxing workout is X Stretch. The first 50+ min of yoga can be strenuous. HOWEVER, if you max out on the movement segment, then FF to the balance postures and if you can do any of the ab moves, they are at the end. That way you'll get more of the workout done than if you stop at min 35 and do nothing else.
