So sore! 6 Months, 1 Week ago

Hi everyone
I started P90X Classic on 13th May and boy is it tough!!! Having done Tae Bo 4 to 5 times week for the past 3 years, I decided I needed a change as it wasn't really pushing me anymore. On day 2, I woke up in pain but loved it! My body has never been so sore!
I always go to the gym at work during my lunch break (cross trainer and/or weights), would it be advisable to stop going because of the intensity of P90X?
Thanks!

There are a lot of people on here who do extra on top of P90x. the key is paying attention to your body and knowing if you are doing too much. The key thing to look at is if you can't bring it every workout- you might want to scale back the extra cross training.
Ok, I'm going to have to work this reference in here and hope that's where your name came from but- if you get done with this program and are doing a lot of extra cross training on top of it- you will be the Master.

Thanks for the reply. My body is currently screaming at me to stop but that's only because it's not used to working so hard. I will see how it goes and will defo stop the extra stuff if I can't bring it every workout.
You're spot on with the reference
After 90 days, if I'm asked, "WHO'S DA MASTER?", I'll say, "I AM!"

Just a quick little tidbit.. If you are working out with weights other than your p90x program then that can be a bad thing. Lets say you do your chest/back workout on monday then go and do biceps and triceps on tuesday at the gym in your office you are doing your body no good. However, if you do your chest/back workout on monday then workout your chest and/or back lightly at the gym that shouldn't be a problem. Just have to make sure you don't overwork your muscles or secondary muscles.

I agree with Coy G, be careful to allow your muscles to rest or you could promote distress.
P90x and Cross training follow the same philosophy of workout diversity. so I would stick to P90x for the moment, as found out P90x is very demanding. There will come a time where you will know that it's safe to bring something else into your routine at that time you can see how to fit cross training back into the mix

Hi Coy
Thanks for the tip. I will space out my gym workouts as much as possible so my muscles get adequate rest.

So when I saw the username of "Bruce Leroy" my memory started to stir. Seeing the forum avatar confirmed my suspicions. And the "Who's da mastuh?!" removed all doubt. rofl--I remember watching that movie as a kidd--thanks for the chuckle
I did want to chime in though about doing extra workouts in addition to P90X. I haven't gotten my videos yet, but from past experience and reading, to really get good results from any program you're going to need solid workouts, proper nutrition, and adequate rest. Mess with any one of the three, and your results will go down and your risk of injury will go up.
With as intense as P90X seems to be, I would probably at most only do some very light cardio work and/or stretching in addition to the workout videos. It sounds like the video workouts have more than enough to stress out your muscles, so heavy lifting in addition to the workouts could easily over-stress your muscles and prevent you from "bringing it". But some light exercise to warm things up with some stretching--enough to get your heart rate going but not stress your muscles, would probably be ok.
Just my two bits

Am I the only one that doesn't do X Stretch, I use that day to rest (as I need it!). I hope I'm not missing out on something major.

Well it tells you that you can either stretch or rest, I think it all depends on how you feel. I am still pretty sore from Legs, and Back, and Kenpo, so I am going to stretch, but thats just me. I say if you feel good, and you're loose then it would be fine to skip it.
