Rest week question 1 Year, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Hey all,

Today is my first day of phase one rest week, and even though I want to lift weights this week I'm doing what the program says, rest...I don't do the Kenpo dvds, I substitute with running 3 miles at 7.0 speed, and I will do Yoga a couple times this week however.

How does this week of rest really benefit me? Its been 2 days since my last resistance exercise (Tues/Thurs/Saturday) and I feel like thats been forever. I plan on running and doing Yoga this week, any advice? Please dont say do Kenpo.

THANKS!

This week gives your muscles extra time to recover and will be all the more challenged next week when you will face new exercises. Running instead of Kenpo during recovery week should be OK, and do the X Stretch 2x as well.

Here is an article on why recovery week is important. I don't think it meshes with everything Tony says (we do have some cardio during recovery week), but you can see it's not just P90X and Tony saying rest:

I'm not sure but it might be as much as a mental rest as it is physical. Either way Tony says do it (or don't it as the case may be) and I follow like a lemming. The results people have achieved following this programme speak for themselves. That's enough for me.
Question: Why don't you do Kenpo?

Core Synergistics...do it hard and all those thoughts of not doing any resistance workouts in the recovery week will be thrown out the window.

This is the workout I look forward to most for my recovery weeks...it's a KILLER!!!
