I am hoping to follow the nutrition plan loosely and aim for a balanced diet; however, I am not buying the P90X supplements and can't decide if I should just have a recovery drink (like above), a protein bar, or both right after working out.

with only 1900 calories per day you don't have much to work with. so just have the recovery/smoothies drink. 1 scoop of the protein powder has 23g of protein so you can save your protein bar for snack time.
