Hello Everyone,
I have been watching/reading the boards now for about 2 weeks. I also started P90X Classic this past Sunday. So I will be around a little bit.
Background info: I'm 22 alittle over 6ft and 262ish. Most people can't believe I weigh as much as I do but I'm just one of those big guys, not really fat, but do have some unwanted fat around my mid section. I am a former athlete and a current coach. Played Football in High School and continued to play in College until my body pooped out of me (injuries).
So far the workouts have been great. Plyo is the only one I'm really worried about because I have bad knees and have had ACL reconstruction on one of them. I felt it a little bit Monday when doing Plyo. Yesterday was my kind of workout. Resistance upper body. Loved it and killed it.
My goal is to really just loose weight and get in shape. I know if I can do that everything else ("being ripped" will all fall into place. I know that because I was once like that, college put close to 80lbs on me, but not all bad weight.
Ok tired of typing will be here to help.

I just watched all of my co-workers eat homemade brownies with ice cream for a colleague's birthday...and I had none. YAY~! So proud of myself...
Not killing myself with P90X workouts just to ruin my efforts by eating junk~! No way~!!

I may get dogged for this question but does yoga work? What is it good for besides stretching and breathing. Please help me understand so I can get into it more than I am.
By the way as Tony would say "I brought it last night with the upper body" keep pushing

I just did Yoga today too. Boy was that a shock! I pretty much figured that today was a rest day, but I sweat harder in Yoga than I did in Plyo - no joke. But afterwards I felt great.
I just wanted to know how everyone else is feeling. My soreness level was at an 8/10 after Plyo, but I'm probably at about a 3 now. I feel really good (Yoga definitely helped). I know that 4 days can't make a visual difference, but I feel better from the workouts. I have more energy and I just feel like I'm looking better...if that makes any sense at all. Does anyone feel similar?
I've been reading people's posts about the diet too. At work we had cake and there are always treats in the lounge, so it's hard to resist, but I'm actually enjoying the food on the diet so far, so I don't miss anything that much. My biggest problem is I don't know what to snack on at night. I eat dinner early and go to bed late, and dinner isn't enough to hold me over for 6-7 hours. Any suggestions other than almonds?

I read that you need to stay away from the carbs if you take a snack before retiring at night. It was suggested to take a small protein shake.
I really enjoy the Soy Nuts. The 100% whole wheat tortillas are good. You can stuff them with veggies, chick., tuna, ham etc, a little no/low fat mayo & mustard. Make a wrap out of it. I toast the tortilla first. Very satisfying. Level III lets you have (1) tortillas. Counts as a carb.
We are on the same track. Yoga... well you know. I tried to get cocky & do Ab Ripper X prior to Yoga. Boy was I over my skis! I was sweating like a stuck pig.
I did try a 8 oz. 1% choc. milk & (1) scoop of protein after that workout that looked like a crime scene. I was very impressed. I may use that instead of the ISOPURE I paid $50.00 for @ Vitamin Shoppe.
Can't wait to wake up in the morning. I may need a forklift to get me out of the rack.
Keep hitting PLAY!

Day 5: Pretty sore, no very sore. Will be doing Legs, Back, Ab X, this afternoon, instead of my reg. time 0330 hrs.
Thanks for all of the tips. I have learned a whole bunch. I have been corrected, which is great. I want to do this the correct way. Hopefully with a short learning curve.
Lots of great P90X info. out on the Net. Blogs, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Check some of that stuff out. One tips can make a difference. Especially with nutrietion that can be confusing.
Yogo blocks. HaHa,not, I thought. Ordered them yesterday! I am going to finish these 90 days. Anything that helps. I am in!
Best of workouts today!

Oh boy...
So glad to hear that I'm not the onloy one that Yoga kicked on. I actually couldn't even get through the entire workout...only about 1/2. i'm not very limber in general, so it was REALLY hard for me and the more advanced poses I simply could NOT do...but I tried my best.
I'm going to go to Sports Authority this weekend and buy a set of yoga blocks...that should help for next week. I do agree with others who said they were REALLY sore yesterday, but not so much today...the yoga did definitely help with that.
Looking forward to Legs / Back / Abs tonight.
Day 5 - Keep Pressing PLAY~!!

Yoga was ruff for the first half, but after that it kind of slowed down for me and was really relaxing to me. I'm as stiff as a 2 by 4 but still did my best. I got out of some of the positions earlier than they did but I pushed to finish with them. Yoga will definitly help me and I am actually looking forward to it in the coming weeks.
I could tell it was more of a 'rest' day and it couldn't have come any sooner.

Day 5 done~!!
I have to say, it was a really good LEG workout...but I am disappointed int he back workout portion, which was just pull-ups. I have to do them modified at this point, so it doesn't really feel like I'm working my back as much as my arms. I think I'm just used to more traditional weight training, like lat pulldowns, seated rows, etc....
I prefered Day 1's Chest/Back routine...but continuing on~!!
Looking forward to Kenpo tonight, and REST tomorrow....although I may go ahead and do the stretchign tomorrow, as I need to keep my muscles and joints limber, etc...
Hope everyone's still pushing PLAY~!

You actually are working your back more than you think. Some of the lunges (if done correctly) are working your back as well.
My workout went good, I was hope for a few different types of pull ups though. Pretty much did the same as the other day. Ready for Kempo and rest. Will need it after this week.

I stopped trying to "out think the room". I am going to follow the wkout. & diet plan. Hey, it is only 90 days. Then re-evaluate.
You/We/I bought this thing to get direction/instruction. I am convinced these people know what they are doing.
I feel great with a practice week and one full week as of today. Follow the direction(s) try & do what thet say. Then you won't be second guessing what if, would of, should of, could of have done. Why are they getting results & I am not.
In one week people are asking "What have you done, what are you doing?" Haircut, new shirt? Blah Blah. Darn it feels good though!
I found something on the back of my arm. I think it is called a tricep! Neat.
Have I struggled? Damn right. But, it feels good, physically and mentaly.
I have dropped from 291 to 276 as of this morning. Was I fat? No, I am obese. But, I am taking action.
WEEK 1 "X'd" of my spreadsheet!

Kenpo X competed. That was the most fun workout yet and one to look forward to every week. I took tae-kwon-do for a year, so I fell right into the workout.
Gunnski, you really lost 15 pounds already? How tall are you? I feel better, and in my mind, I look a little better, but I'm pretty sure I haven't lost any weight yet. Then again, I'm not weighing myself, but 15 lbs. in 1 week seems like a lot.
I got a question for everybody. I'm taking my wife to our favorite Italian restaurant tonight for dinner, and I'm wondering what would be best to eat for the diet. My norm is Veal Parmesan, but I obviously won't be getting that tonight. Any ideas?

Whenever I go for Italian, I usually get some kind of chicken dish (most will have roasted chicken of some kind) with pasta and / or veggies as the side. My local restaurant will do whole wheat pasta on request as well. You could ask if they have WW, many do nowadays.
I typically start with a minestrone soup or a salad.
Stay away from the cream sauces and the bread basket.
I also LOVE Caprese Salad (tomato, basil and mozzarella).
Most of all...watch HOW MUCH you eat. Most places serve 2 - 3 times what a normal portion should be.
Enjoy your evening~!!

Scouts Honor!
Started what I would call a pre-week. I downloaded the Fit Test, and learned how UnFit I was. That was on 10/25/09. It was right about that time I ordered the P90X DVD's. I wrote my weight on the front of the Fit Test cover "291!" I was discussed, ashamed, and afraid I could die of a heart attack, like alot of my buddies.
I am 51, 6'-0". Like many here I was a jock in H.S., Military, J.C. footbal ball after Army. I became a police officer @ 21. I was on SWAT and the Dive Recovery Team. Police Officer of the Year, yak yak yak.
I became a beer "drinking pig", literally. (2) divorces, (no children thank God), and an extra body size later I have committed to beat this crap in my life. I am going "X".
Cutting out the beer helped alot. I lose weight fast for whatever reason. I have really been pushing it on the DVD's. I really want this to work. Water weight & all that crap. I have heard before. All I know right now I feel much better.
The heart monitor (never tried one before), scared the crap out of me when I was hitting my extreme HR range just doing jumping jacks.
Down on lbs. even more today, after I re-did some Kenpo X, my Day 6.
True story, no joke., I just want to be accountable w/ full disclosure.
Have a good weekend, keep hitting play. I know it hurts, we all do!

Good for you dude. Keep up the good work.
I know I'm overweight (6'2" and 265 when I started), but I'm not watching my weight. I'm doing this because it's making me feel better. My routine before included plopping down on the couch, eating cookies or chips or candy, watching movies and playing video games. Then I would wonder why I was so tired all the time. In only one week's time, I feel 1000 times better. I have energy; I'm doing things around the house; I'm playing with my kids more. It's great, and if I happen to lose weight and look better afterwards, that will be a bonus.
By the way, thanks for the help with dinner tonight. I wound up getting a salad and having a delicious steak with steamed veggies - no bread, alcohol, fried foods, or dessert for me.
