Need Advice with my plan!!! 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I have been doing the p90x for a week so far and I feel great so far...sweat a lot in every workout! One question though that I want to ask is that I followed the diet plan for phase 2 but I have to be honest, I had some junk food on a couple of days. Every week though I do a light jog 2 miles on my rest day (saturday) and im goin to continue doing it to condition myself for basketball. If I do this and also play basketball outside will i be able to loose all the junk food i ate? Also can follow the plan but also have a junk food once every week cause of all the cardio im adding to p90x cause i dont want to be too lean?

Do as you please, however be cognizant of the caveat. you seem to be looking for a justification for eating "junk food" if you think your extra cardio will negate the effect of "not so beneficial" food then make sure you follow through by doing the extra cardio.

Character is who you are when no one is around you! This is a life changing plan and to have something you've never had, you must do something you've never done. Les said it well, you seem to be looking for an excuse to eat the junk food. P90X is already pretty challenging and demanding on its own, so doing the "extra cardio" on your rest days will be tough to maintain. I were you, i'd stick to the nutricion guide as close as you can. All that being said its always up to you, it would be a shame to continue with the program and not get the results you wished for. Good Luck!

To paraphrase a comment in the guide book, if you don't care what you look like, feel free to eat as much junk food as you want! You'll still get in great physical shape, you just won't look like it

That being said, if you haven't seen the movie "Super Size Me", I would go watch it, and then consider whether you really want to keep eating that stuff. (Though I must add that when my fiance and I watched that movie about a year ago, we picked up some KFC on our way back from renting the movie ) If you're set on eating fast food though, for whatever reason, try to stick to the menu items in the back of the nutrition guide, and try not to eat out more than once or twice a week.

Yah you guys are absolutly right and what I was trying to say was I will stop and stick to the plan but I wanted to know if playing basketball and doin some cardio will help replace the mistake I did for the first week...cause that is not goin to happen again.

Personally I would say don't dwell on that mistake. Everyone slips up once in a while. Just keep pushing play and do the best you can.

The junk food just might not let you have that perfect 6 pack that you're looking for since it can hold a little layer of fat over your stomach (depending on how much you eat of course). It really won't negate your basketball performance or your strength and cardio gain. And again, some people can eat junk all day long and still have a six-pack, you just have to know how your metabolism works. If you're a person that gains 10 lbs just by LOOKING at an ice-cream cone, then I would stay away from it. If on the other hand you can eat 50 lbs of chips and not gain a pound, then do as you please.

Keep in mind that junk food is never good for you, it's not just a matter of how you look. Of course eating healthy is always better, but just decide on where your priorities are and decide on what your goals are and work at it accordingly. I just started the P90X program and I eat pretty healthy, but that's not to say that I'm never going to have a beer with my friends or order a pizza for a soccer game. Just do it less and try and not do it often. Eating healthy is about feeling healthy. Once you feel healthy, the looks are attainable.
