Kinda dissappointed 1st week down and gained 2lbs! 5 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
I am overall happy witht the stregnth gain and Im noticing a cardiovascular gain, but whats up with the scale showing a gain of 2 pounds! Prior to this Id been losing .5lb per week with just diet (which was iffy at times) I figured with all of this ramped up exercise I would have lost 1-2lbs. Im following the diet although Im only taking in like 1600-2000 calories per day. I did the calculations and Im supposed to be at 2700 but I cant possibly eat that. Im 5'10 started at 180lbs with a large frame and more muscle than most other woman. Im just scratching my head here. I will keep pushing play no matter what but do I need to make adjustments?

My husband lost 8lbs this first week which is fantastic!

Any insight would be great!

Audrey

Hi!
I'm starting my third week today....I can only tell you not to go by the scale.
After reading a bunch of posts, I decided not to weigh myself before I started, but I took measurements (waist, hips, biceps etc). After completing my second week, I measured again. I had lost 3/4 of an inch in my waist, and inch in my hips, I gained on my bicep--etc. I also go by how my clothes feel. My jeans were tight, now they are looser. Some people suggested finding a pair of jeans that were supertight, and using them to see how you are doing (not the scale). Anyway, that's just my two cents......between the jeans and the measurements, I am seeing results, so I don't need a scale.....

Hi arynberg.

It could be a multitude of things but at this point it's probably fluid retention in your muscles. That soreness you feel after working out, that is lactic acid and other fluids, rushing to your muscles. They surround the "damaged" tissue and help the muscle repair itself. This is one reason it is VITAL you drink plenty of water.

Also know that you are building muscle. So, you probably have some muscle replacing fat as well.

i gained 4 pounds, and i talked to a nutritionist about it and they said that it happens like that sometimes, your not doing anything wrong really its just how your reacted to it

in my diet im doing all mostly proteins, no breads really, and im taking acai berry (anitoxident) and two protein shakes everyday, and im 6'5" 290 so when i gained pounds i was pissed but they just said that it happens like that sometimes, and thats it nothing to worry about, they weight will fall off, oh and make sure that your drinking alot of water cuz its impossible to burn fat being dehydrated

Thanks for all of the helpful insight. I will try to drink more water as that is the only thing I could be lacking of at times. Guess, Ill just go off the measuring tape vs. the scale.

Thanks everyone!
