is it normal? 1 Year, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
the first two days i could barely get past the workouts. i didnt even do ab ripper after chest and back. i am dead tired during halfway through the workouts and and sometimes im too weak to complete some of the excersises because my muscles are on fire, i could easily push through kenpo though on day three (i switched it with shoulders and arms because i am still extremely sore.)
am i pushing myself too hard or do i need to tone it down a notch?

It does hurt so keep going.

You could try the following while you build up more stamina:

1) lightening the weights that you are using
2) not trying to keep up with the people in the DVDs
3) taking slightly longer breaks
4) using the pause button more often

Hope this helps.

PS I meant try one or two of these - not all 4 at the same time.

I agree, the first week should be about testing your limits, not trying to keep up with the immortals on the DVDs. Find your comfort zone, write down the results, and then work to exceed them in upcoming weeks. The good news is that you get more chances to the do the workouts and improve, so don't kill yourself the first week. I am finishing week 2 right now and this week was a lot easier than last week.

Take the breaks you need. The first week, it probably took me 1.5 hrs to get through each resistance routine. I thought it was more important to do the exercises than try to follow their speed. Frankly, I used all of Uday's suggestions on occasion except for lightening weights, but that's because I wasn't going very heavy to begin with.

Do ARX at another time of the day, or take a break, then do it 15-30 min later.

You might also want to add a carb portion to your diet, you might not be getting enough energy to get through the workouts.
