I think I may have picked the wrong version 7 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I am halfway through classic and I'm beginning to think Ive picked the wrong version.Ive gained almost 5 pounds and have lost 0 inches.I do not follow the eating plan but I am a healthy eater so Im not eating junk.I'm always hungry too.Should I finish the classic and then do lean? I dont want to find myself unable to wear any of my clothes. Has anyone had this issue?

You are 6 weeks into the program and haven't lost any inches? If you are doing the program correctly, I would fine that scenario very hard to believe.

Whats your current physique if you don't mind me asking? Are you already in shape and doing this for extra tone? are you pretty overweight trying to lose some inches/pounds?

Also, describe your diet a bit. I know a lot of people who claim to be eating healthy but really are nowhere close to it. On the similar topic, why aren't you following the P90X diet? I don't follow it 100% myself, but I am pretty close to how it suggests you eat.

Lastly, are you modifing any of the moves in the videos? How much?

I have seen some people really modify everything in P90X so its even less useful than walking a dog. Remember, to get results, you have to bust your butt on the workouts. Gaining weight will happen because you gain muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat per unit volume. However unless you have like 0% bodyfat, not losing any inches sounds peculiar.

I haven't had an issue with gaining, but have stayed pretty stable weight-wise. I really like the Core Synergistics (which usually gets my cardio up a bit) in the Lean Program, but I also get tired of doing it after a while... So what I've been doing is a modified routine... I'll do the first week of a phase 1 as lean, then the second two weeks as classic...recovery week (which has Core Syn)... first week of phase 2 as lean, then second two weeks as classic... recovery week... weeks 1 and 2 of phase 3 as lean, and weeks 3 and 4 as classic. Anyway, I find this a nice compromise as I get bored with both Core Syn and Ab Ripper x if I do them too much.

Tom
I think I was just having a bad week.I would not have considered my self already in shape but have lost 32 pounds in the last year and a half by changing my diet but working out very little. In my job I am constantly moving and I never sit unless Im at break. When I started P90X my weight was 119 I didnt want to lose but didnt want to gain either.I am now 122 I will be taking measurements tomorrow to compare them to day 1
As far as my diet, salads, fish, chicken. No red meat no pork but I deleted those from my diet over a year ago. I eat lots of whole grains and no fried food.I have no time to follow the plan 100% I have also cut sugar way down.I do not modify the moves, but will if it is too much for me (plyo) .I love plyo but its too much for me.
I will be doing a 2nd round but it will be the lean version.

122 from 119? That seems like a pretty small fluctuation in weight. How tall are you and do you know your body fat percentage? The lower your body fat gets the harder it is to for your body to lose more. The weight gain you're seeing is probably muscle mass. I know personally, my weight has been pretty level, but it's essentially because my muscles are growing at the same rate as my fat is burning. Since I probably have a lot more fat to burn than you do, it comes off quicker and more drastically due to a radical change in activity level and diet.

Your measurements should offer a better explanation.

Wait, first you said you'd lost zero inches but then say you haven't taken measurments? Which is it?
If you don't know what your b/f %age was on Day 1 and what it is currently then you can't really gauge your progress that way.
However, ask yourself this:
Are you stronger then when you started?
More flexible?
Have better balance?
Fitter cardiovascular-wise?
Feel good mentally about getting this far?
I'm guessing it's a big yes to most all of those. If so the rest will come. How can it not? Don't let 3 pounds (that may well be added muscle) throw you.
