I missed a workout, or did I? 1 Year, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi, new to the boards. I have a question. I'm in my 2nd week of the workout and on Tuesday I was supposed to do plyo, but I had a hockey game that night. Now since plyo is a cardio workout, is it OK for me to count the hockey game as a cardio night and not a missed night? I also missed last night because my wife was at the Ranger game and I was in charge of our 10 month old, who usually goes to bed at 8 but last night was up past 10, and I wasn't going to start my workout at that time. I am "doubling up" today with last night's workout and todays, which is yoga.

But can I count playing hockey on Tuesday night as a good night and not skipped?

I'd say hockey is a workout. Give yourself a little time between S&A and Yoga, because the Yoga works your arms out. When I double up, I usually do S&A and Kenpo, then do Yoga on a different day.

Definitely will take some time inbetween. Probabaly do S&A right from work then do the yoga later that evening.

Another question regarding yoga....if I don't have 90 minutes, and I usually have time in the evening, can I substitute the 10 minute trainer version?

just do as much of the video as you have time for. I am in week 3 and have yet to get through the entire workout due to fatigue and frustration

I agree with jdavison, do as much as you can. The 10min trainer is NOT a substitute, it's only 10 minutes, no matter how strenuous the moves are. That's why when I double up I don't double up with Yoga (I do Kenpo instead), plus there's an ab routine at the end of Yoga, so it's sort of a waste to do it the same day as ARX.

Nice to know I'm not alone in the frustration part for the Yoga... I wanted to quit this morning.. I just picked back up later in the session though.

OK, I'll just see what I can do. I was never able to double up the other night as my son was up past 10 again. It's supposed to be a snow day here on LI tomorrow so I'll have all day to make it up. Sunday is the rest and the Giants, so I'm not planning on any working out!

Just another question...the rest day, does it have to come on the last day? I have another hockey game on Monday so it's going to be tough to the the back routine. Can I just use that as a bonus day or again count it as my plyo day and just reverse it sort of and do back on Tuesday and get back on schedule Wednesday? I really don't want to miss days.

is there any way you could do the least strenous program for you personally before your hockey game? I know its a lot but thats what i've sort of done. I play racquetball and soccer and before games I either do the Xstretch or cardio x because they're easier for me and sort of warm me up...just a thought. the lil one issue i feel ya haha, i got a 1 year old who is up all the time. ne time you plan on them sleepin' they always surprise you! i've given up plannin' when i'm going to workout i just wait for him to go to bed. whatever time it is whether its 6pm or 6am i make sure i get that work out in...or an even better option is get him a little jumper/ walker and let him play next to you...just a thought, hope it helped. good luck and god bless.

I was thinking that. The XStretch wouldn't be bad before a game since I spend a good 5-10 minutes stretching off and on the rink.

As for the walker idea it's not bad but the problem is he gets bored easily and wants to move on to the next thing rather quickly. Ten to 20 minutes tops and he's ready for something else. He's also very attached to me and he'd be moaning and groaning for me to pick him up and play with him.

I just did about 40 minutes of the yoga, which is about 10 minutes more then I made it last time. I was getting into it for awhile, and I should be able to complete it in the next week or two. I'm pooped, it's been a long week.

They have some really kick-butt ones with a lot of activities if that doesn't work get a BIG 'ole play pen and put a bunch of toys in it and while you're working out pretend to play peek-a-boo or some such nonesense, I have the same troubles with my little one lol, working out has become a bit of a game for him....while i'm doing it i'll try to make him think i'm playing with him, takes some practice but you'll figure out what works with your little one.

We have a couple of those chairs and the big playpen/fence thing. He's good for about 20 minutes tops in there then he wants out. That's why I usually wait until he's in his crib to start my workout. I may try a morning workout soon but it's rough. Morning comes pretty quick!
