How to eat for morning workouts 4 Months ago

Hi everyone,
I plan to start P90X this coming Monday, but have some questions regarding nutrition. I will be doing my workouts mainly in the morning, meaning that I will wake up around 5:30 or 6, do the workout, then be ready to leave for work by 7:30.
That said, what should I do about food? Is it okay to work out first thing in the morning without eating anything first? If not, how much time should I let pass after eating to start my workout? And what exactly should I eat?
I'm asking because I don't want to wake up too much earlier than 5:30. If I should eat before my workout and then wait like 30 minutes, that means I would have to wake up around 5am. That's pushing it awfully early for me.
Anybody else here do their workouts in the morning? And if so, what is your food regiment?
Thanks!
-J

it'll vary from person to person. you'll find some will simply have a protein shake (either mixed with water or skim milk). some just a glass of water, maybe some nuts or something. while others practically a whole breakfast. it all depends on how you feel during the workout. for the first one, try just having a protein shake. if you can get through the workout without issues, then stick with that. tweak it till you find something that works.
then after your workout, have a recovery drink. get to work, and have breakfast, if your job allows (as in, if you sit behind a desk and can eat while you work, kinda thing).

Oh man that's a tough one. I do exercises in the morning but i have more time than you. For breakfast i eat 1cup of oatmeal, with 1 cup of soy milk, and 1/2 cup of berries i wait an hour than do the workout. I knew someone that did the morning workout first thing in the morning than he just took some kind of recovery drink and 1 whole protein bar. I think that's mostly up to your body if it can take it or not.

I work out in the mornings before breakfast. There's not enough time for me to eat and wait an adequate amount of time before my workout. I usually have oatmeal with half a banana & some blueberries, (sometimes with a scoop of protein powder in it), plain yogurt, a cup of coffee, and a cup of chocolate milk when I feel like I need a recovery drink.
Some people find that they can bring it more after eating. Experiment and find what's right for you.

I might eat a banana on the way out the door to PT. After PT is done we get an hour and a half to shower, eat, and get our uniforms on. I have the luxury of waiting until after PT to eat. If I was you, and this is just me - no nutrition guru, I'd drink a cup of coffee about 15 minutes before working out, then eat after.

Something light imo like a banana or some almonds or better yet a protein shake. Doing stuff like Plyo X which has you jumping around probably will make ya puke if you have a full stomach, i know i would...

See what works for you. It's all about making P90X work for your schedule. If you are forcing yourself to do something you don't wnat to do (i.e. wake up too early), you will probably get sick of it and end up getting discouraged.
Do what works for you and let us know.

When I have to work out in the morning, I usually cook up scrambled eggs and a turkey sausage link the night before so that I can just pop them in the microwave after I work out and eat them along with my post-workout protein shake. So I don't eat right before my workout, don't have the time, I eat afterward.
