On Saturday I did KenpoX and yesterday I decided that installing a bunch of patio blocks would be my workout. These things are about 50 pounds a piece so I thought what the heck why not carry two at a time from the garage to the backyard. Ah, big mistake! Got a twinge in my lower back that got worse through the rest of the day. Could hardly sleep last night and have been putting hot and cold packs on it all morning. So, my workout today will be, if I can stand up straight, an hour hike instead of CST and ARX. I'll do my weeks worth of P90X starting tomorrow and skip the rest day next Sunday.
Big, sounds like you are kickin' it!
Boomer, how did you get your fat measurement taken? And, tell us what kinda stuff you eat. My goal is 12% by the end of 90 days and I started at 26%.

Hope everyone had a great holiday!
8.9% Boomer? My gosh! Great job!
David, take it easy with that back. My husband has ruptured discs in his lower back 3 times, resulting in surgery each time, so be careful.
I did L&B Friday night and then we took the kids hiking on Saturday. We did a total of about 3 miles, quite a bit of it uphill. Took Sunday off, and hubby and I went trail running/hiking yesterday. We picked a trail we had never done before, and it was not really "runable". As soon as we got our heart rates up, we had to stop and cross a stream...several times. The trail was narrow, full of obstacles (fallen trees, rocks, roots), and on top of it all, it was raining. We did about 2.5-3 miles, and it wore us out. We got home and took a nap. I was supposed to get up and do plyo this morning (I've been saying that a lot lately..."supposed to get up" but I am still exhausted and my body just said no. The plan is to double up tomorrow. We'll see.

david, someone asked me a similar question after finishing my first round of P90X. At that time I was at 12%. Here is a "copy & paste" of my reply...
I dropped about 10 pounds during phase 1 of P90X. During phase 2 I lost about 5 pounds and then I hit a plateau. I think that is because my weight loss slowed while my lean body weight rose because my body fat measurements were still going down. During phase 3 week 3 my weight just started coming off again... another 10 pounds.
I did not follow the P90X nutrition guide. I had lost about 50 pounds about a year and a half ago so I used my same strategy.
Here is the strategy I used...
1. Burn more calories than I consume.
2. I don't subscribe to low carb diets because I need good quality carbs to fuel extreme workouts. Eat good quality carbs!!!
3. Consume protein to build lean body weight.
4. For most of P90X I used this caloric ratio... 40% Protein/40% carbs/20% fat.
5. Finally, the single most important tool... keep a food log. Enter everything you consume no matter how small. Even those who are good at estimating are normally 20% off.
I did doubles throughout the program.
My calorie intake during P90X...
Phase 1 calories 1200-1400
Phase 2 calories 1500-1700
Phase 3 calories 1800-2000
With this program I lost 25 pounds and went from 22% BF to 12%.
As for how I figured my daily caloric requirements? Check my post about this here... http://www.projectexercise.com/Blog/post/2009/03/17/Tip-How-to-figure-out-your-BMR-and-Calorie-Requirements.aspx. To lose weight eat about 500 calories or so less than your requirements.

Great job, Boomer.. I'm going to have to alter something to get down to single digits.
RJ, Hiking after L&B... you are a trooper!
Pat, I'm right there with you!! I was sore all weekend!!! hahaha
David, be careful with that back.. that is what set me back on my initial restart.
I didn't get on here much, but I did get all my workouts in!! I didn't do the double Kenpo on Sat. because my body told me not to... I was very sore after doing the double on L&B day.. I won't make that mistake again. I took a rest day on Sunday and I started back on Monday with week two. I am back in stride again and I was able to knock out Chest and Back yesterday with no problems and I even did Interval X Plus today without sucking too much wind!! I love this program and the result are undeniable!!
Keep bringing it, all!!!
BTW.. Boomer, what happened to Navy??

Boomer, you're a crazy P90X'n fool! You are such an inspiration.
I'm pretty sure I didn't see an answer to this, where or how do you get your body fat measured?
Yesterday I started Chest & Back & by the fifth standard pushup, I felt a ripping sensation in my chest. So needless to say, I stopped. Hopefully I'm good for arms tomorrow.

Boomer, thanks very much for that. The nutrition guide told me I was supposed to eat like 2400 calories and I felt just stuffed! Went down to 1500-1800 and that seems to help a lot.
Oh, Jess, that doesn't sound good!
Big, thanks, I will try to work out today, carefully. Haven't done anything since Sunday and I miss it and feel bad.
RJ, ask your husband what a ruptured disk feels like. I hope I just pulled a muscle.
Pat, Keep brinin' it!

We don't have a hydro-static testing facility or a dexa-scan facility here so I have the measurement done with digital calipers. First I do it at home to get an idea where I am. I then go to my local gym and have one of the trainers do it. They have a trainer that specializes in doing the measurements. We make sure he gets 6 repeatable measurements.
Btw, as you get lower in body fat, the measurements become much more repeatable and accurate. The reason is because doing the skin pinch when you have 12% percent or less is repeatable because you don't have much fat to pinch. The higher your BF the harder it is to get a consistent pinch. Below 10% the repeatable measurements come very easy.

RJ... I am getting jealous of your cool trail runs. I would really like to do those. There are a few trail run events here, however, with only a week and a half until my very first triathlon, I don't dare!
Big... Good job with getting back in the saddle. P90X rocks! Doing it gave me the confidence to begin training for a triathlon.
Jess and Pat... take care of those injuries!
Accountability time...
Sunday: P90X+ Upper Plus
Monday: 6K run
Today: Swim 1000 yards, Back, Biceps, ARX

Hey everyone
Hope you don't mind if I jump in here, you all started a week before me but it seems as if everyone I have been posting with has disappeared off of the site.
I am in my 6th week in Phase 2 pushing hard and have seen some really good results so far. I have some Day 1 - Day 30 pics up in the Picture section. Anyways my question is, can you do ARX before doing the workout? Reason being is I cycle home from work everyday so when I get home my body is somewhat tired and I find I can do the ARX better if I do it before the workout, will this hurt my progress or do you think it should be ok.
Thanks
Dave

Hey Dave.. welcome to the Gun Club!! We are all in different places in the program, so you fit right in!! The only thing we ask is that you put up a Gun pic!!
As far as doing the ARX before.. I personally don't see an issue with that. A lot of us don't do it just after the workout anyway, because it seems to go better waiting a while, so doing it before is really the same type of thing.

I'm starting doubles today. Last week I ran 1 day behind so monday turned into a rest day. Tuesday I did C&B and arx. Today, I woke up early and knocked out cardio-x. I'm ready to polish the guns up tonight with S&A! I missed out on plyo but with doubles this week I'm not worried. Just gotta burn some major calories, don't really care how this week. I would squeeze plyo in somewhere but I did that last week and paid dearly for it!

Hello everyone!! I have been checking in but have not had the time to write for a while (I know....what a shame). But unfortunatley for you I am back. I have yet to miss a day and continue to do doubles at least three days a week if not 4. Two weekends ago I ran my first 5k this year and was able to finish in 22:49 (an easy mostly flat course). I have another one coming up this week and am hoping to do ok but have had a hard time running this week so far. I am nursing a pulled or strained groin and a pulled or strained tricep. Still making it through the workouts but I agree with RJ it is getting harder and harder to get up in the mornings...ugh
Boomer...you are still the man
Big Hurt.....the work you put in is incredible as well
Jess...sorry I missed your birthday happy belated bday
rj...keep getting up cause it is inspiring me to do the same
dave....good to see you over here, these guys are great
yesriko....congrats on being back and with the lofty goal of half marathon taining added
All of you guys ROCK (I sort of pebble but am trying to rock...lol)

Good to see you here yesriko! Yes, our other group was kinda quiet so I came over here and have been very happy with the support. I can honestly say that without this forum I would not have completed the first round as well as I did and I certainly wouldn't be doing another round now! This is my second week for round 2 and I'm starting to get all of my strength and endurance back already.

Pat.. I'm with you.. I'm gonna try to get doubles in this week and cut my caloric intake by at least 500 calories. I'm gonna get in S&A later then do the Cardio X. I will probably do Cardio X tomorrow and Kenpo X Plus, instead of Yoga. I know I was a big fan of yoga the last time, but for some reason, I'm not really in the mood this go around.
Welcome back, Yesriko!!
Bugger, don't feel bad about not getting a chance to write.. you are pulling off the most important part and that's doing the work!! Don't kid yourself, You ROCK also!!
