Pat thanks for the advice!
Jess do the doctors say that you will run again? If so, it's something to look forward to, right?
RJ good for you about the compliments! Hope your injury is doing better.
Boomer do you have to go into a recovery week before the Triathlon or do you work out right up to the race?
Since I changed over to Classic Version at the Phase I/Phase II break I am feeling it. Back, bicep, triceps, abs and chest are complaining. Legs are okay since the Lean version I was doing is a lot of cardio type stuff.
Here's me not quitting, not slowing down, just bringing it harder!

Jess, you are doing awesome!
David, the injury is getting better, it's just taking it's sweet time. This week has DRAGGED by with no workouts. Hubby is back on the train and is starting to run again, preparing for that big 10k trail run. I want to get out there and train with him, but I know that if I jump back too early it's going to do more harm than good. I'm doing that 5 mile hike on Saturday, and come Monday morning, I am back into P90x world whether my body likes it or not.

When selected my start date for round 2 of P90X, I made it so that I would go into recovery week just before my triathlon.

No running for me...If I want my replacement to last as long as it possibly can, I'm not supposed to run or jump.

Jess, given your replacement and the restrictions, how are you doing plyo?
I decided to "test" out my shoulder last night, and hung from my pullup bar for about 30 seconds and it felt fine. Hubby was protesting and fussing at me about it, but I told him that I wasn't doing anything strenuous, I just wanted to see how it was doing. Then I got down and did 3 pushups, again with hubby fussing at me, and the shoulder twinged. Not much, but a little bit. When I lean my head to the left, I feel a pull from the back of my armpit across my shoulderblade, so I know I need a few more days. I think I'll be ok to run even if I'm absolutely not able to pick up P90X on Monday.

I do a modified version of Plyo. I step through most of the moves & I bend down during rock star hops, instead of jumping.

Hi everyone, I have been SICK all week. I rarely get sick, but I was out 4 days from work so far, some kind of stomach flu. I've been home all week watching TV, reading, taking it easy. The scale went way down, but I'm sure that's just dehydration. Hopefully I won't lose too much muscle, I've been eating eggs and my protein drink every day. Yesterday started getting leg pains, I think they're from electrolyte depletion, any suggestions? I had some calcium-enriched OJ, and an extra glass of the protein drink, and trying to drink extra water. I'm thinking of getting some Propel. I avoid those sports drinks usually, but this is different. I hate Gatorade.

Hi all,
Been super busy this week with workouts, triathlon training, job and most importantly all family time so I haven't posted in a while.
Anyway, I had a rest day yesterday and I swam 2000 yards (1.4 miles) and did chest and ARX the day before. Today I woke up and did a bike/run brick (a brick is a back to back bike and run doing my triathlon distances).
Ok, so now I am off to run some errands and buy my son a bigger bed.
Jess, it sounds like you have gotten yourself pretty fit!
V, take care. I will be praying for you to get well soon.
RJ, I will also include you in my prayers for quick healing. Ease back into the routines slowly so that you can bring it when you are 100%.
Navy and David... keep pushing play!

Today I got out some running shoes, sweat suit, MP3 player and heartrate monitor and went for a run(oh, it was 35 degrees out). I thought 30 minutes would be a good starting time. I ran until I got up to 165 on the heartrate and backed off to jogging till I got down to 140 and started running again. Did this for 15 minutes out and 15 minutes back so I could tell if I was going slower the last half, which I wasn't. Then I did X Stretch. Oh, and next time I will remember to stretch FIRST before the run! I definitely feel it in the legs.
Built myself a pullup bar out of 1" galvanized pipe yesterday. I had been doing 10 pounds over my body weight on my Bowflex and the real thing is harder. Also got a second set of dumbbells so I could have all the weights I need for a workout ready based on my last weeks performance. I plan to crank it up 2 to 5 pounds a week. Trying to catch up to Boomer.
After one week of P90X CLASSIC Phase II, I am feeling it all over. Must be working.
Jess I applaud your efforts! <clap, clap> Inspiring!
RJ and V more wishes for a speedy recovery.

David... wow, you did well on your running. Keep it up! Your DIY pull-up bar sounds cool. I love DIY stuff! Pull-ups are definitely harder than lat pulldowns. I can do way more than my weight on the lat pulldown machine, but if I strap that extra weight on myself doing pull-ups, there is no way. When I started P90X I could only do like 50 unassisted pull-ups total for the leg and back workout. That is the total over the 8 sets that we do for that workout. Today I can do over 100 unassisted pull-ups total for that workout. With your pull-up bar you will be making great gains. Try to add a few more pull-ups for each workout.

V, I hope you get to feeling better soon. If there is one thing I hate, it's to get sick.
Boomer, thanks for the prayers, they must have worked. My neck is only feeling a very slight pull when I lay my head to that side, so in the morning, it's all systems go. I'm refraining from taking the day 120 pics because of the injury, and while I haven't gained any weight according to the scale, I feel flabbier than I like. I will post my experience tomorrow.
Hubby and I went on a 5 mile hike on Saturday, and it was amazing. I have never felt so good and had such little trouble doing that trail. The middle mile and a half is pretty tricky, with rock climbs and numerous stream crossings that slow you down and are not "runable", but the rest of it is. We had hubby's cousin and his wife with us, so we took our time and had to take several breaks (his cousin is very overweight) so we weren't running much of it. I managed to squeeze in some sprints up some hills and it was pretty easy. I was also doing football hero down the trail and gap jumps over some puddles and streams. I LOVED it. Felt wonderful, and I was blessing Tony Horton with every step. Hubby and I are planning to run it in the next few weeks to see just how fast we can do it. We've done it in 2 hours before, this time we're shooting for an hour and a half.

It was a blast!
Now, this morning, I was not happy with myself. I dragged out of bed prepared to tackle CST. I knew I was going to have to take it easy, I just didn't know HOW easy. The most I could do was 12 reps with a lighter weight than I used last time (which was day 77), very very few pushups on my toes, like maybe the first 3 of any set, then down to the knees I went. The one arm pushups were a freak show, and I completely passed on the clap pushups, I did regular pushups instead. My shoulder just didn't feel up to it. It feels a bit tweaky now, if that's even a word. Tonight I will do ARX, which should be interesting since it's been 2 weeks since I've done it, and put in some treadmill time.

RJ as long as you didn't hurt yourself you can rest most of those muscle that rest of the week and be ready for a little more next Monday.
Boomer I guess I will have to do the assisted kind to keep up the reps and build up to putting weights on. That'll be a while it feels like.
Did CST this morning with 2.5 pound increase on everything and then did ARX. And I think I might need a new 'gun' picture soon cuz the one at the top of my post looks puny now.

Aloha Gun Club Members,
Accountability of the weekend...
Saturday: Bike/Run Brick - I think I explained what a brick is in an earlier post, however, if you don't know what it is... a brick is doing the bike portion of a triathlon and the run portion back to back without rest. Anyway, the bike part of my brick went pretty well, however, it took my legs a while to transition from biking to running. Not until about a mile into my run was I able to get more control of my legs. It is a weird feeling going immediately from biking to running.
Sunday: Chest, shoulders, triceps. I posted a video of my airborne plyo/clap push-ups here... http://www.projectexercise.com/Blog/post/2009/05/17/Workout-Log-P90X-Chest-Shoulders-and-Triceps-Airborne-Plyo-Push-ups.aspx

I am still here! Not doing any P90X though yet. I am still working on getting my hydration up. I have done an occasional close-grip pullup. Since I'm 4-5lb lighter, they're a little easier! I was able to do 2 in a row the other day. Only one chinup at a time.
I will be walking a bit more today. It's so beautiful outside, and I can see if my energy is OK. I may do Core or Yoga today. I was due for a recovery week anyway starting last Thursday, but I may actually do the recovery week to get back into the program.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Glad to hear you are feeling better, V. Sounds like you are doing exactly what you need to be doing.
I was supposed to do plyo this morning but it kind of slipped my mind in light of VERY sore shoulders and triceps and a snuggly husband. So I will tackle it tonight, I may even get my son to give it a try. He just had his last track meet so he needs to stay in shape... Am I evil or what?

I decided to break down and take day 120 pics. Getting ready to do measurements.

Wow... I guess I've really been away too long.. It's taken me 5 minutes to get the forum to allow me to post this!!
Hi all!! Glad to see you guys and gals are all still being troopers and bringing it!! I had a complete lapse in focus after my back injury and I was unable to get focused due to some family stuff and then a family reunion during Mother's Day weekend. I partied hard during my time off (3+ weeks)!! My definition of hard partying has changed as I've gotten older, so I still did eat decent, but I did more fast food than I should have. While home in GA, I ate lots of food that only my family is able to make so good, especially the cakes and pies!!
All that said.. I'm back home now and really focused. I got started yesterday and I was so surprised that day one was actually a little bit tough for me. I made it thru it, but at the end of the first cycle, I was able to knock out over 450 reps of ARX... I barely got the 349 in. I planned on doing plyo today, but ran short on time, so I did Interval X Plus and it REALLY kicked my butt!! My heart rate maxxed out at 181 and averaged 159, which is something for a 40 minute workout. I'm sore all over and it feels so good!!
My eating is pretty much back on track, but the Krispy Kreme doughnuts and ice cream are calling my name tonight... during my off time, I put back on 1.5 inches on my waist and about 8 lbs. My new goal for this cycle is to get down to a 35 inch waist from my now 40.5 inches.
