good for diabetics???? 1 Year, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
I've read this forum from top to bottom. I was trying to find more info on P90X. I am the perfect example of an x-jock. I'm 30lbs. overweight, in poor physical shape, and diabetic at 57 years old. I would like to try P90X, but am wondering if I can do it. All the info show fairly young, not so out of shape, and not diabetic people. I don't even know if I can do the exercises or if, as a diabetic, I can do the nutrition (diet). Is there anyone out there similar to me using P90X?? I would welcome any info you can give me.

Well, the program was designed for "healthy" people. But it's not so demanding like a 20 mile marathon. It is very do-able if you are diabetic. Just be very careful. I am very familiar with diabetics due to most of my family is diabetic, I work with a lot of diabetics, and I have helped a lot of diabetics with exercise. I am very close myself to getting there so I really watch my diet and exercise.

Being diabetic does hinder a little bit what you can do. As you already know you need to regulate your carbohydrate intake. But we got to get energy so I'd consume a little more calories than most. But I am not a nutritionist so I can not make your diet plan. But if you'd like I can talk to some nutritionists I work with and ask them. If you do go, try to workout a 2200 calorie workout with high proteins.

Also, try to workout two hours after your meal. I would workout with a 110 - 140 blood sugar level. But always watch for the signs of Hypoglycemia when you workout. Watch the plyometrics, do the modified moves.

Diabetes is something I have been passionate about. If you have any questions just ask me or pm me.
