Female doing P90X and gaining weight!?! 2 Months ago

I am 25 and my husband and I started P90X about a month and a half ago. I started out at 142 and am up to 155!!! What in the world is going on? All of my clothes still fit but it is awful seeing that huge gain in weight. Is it possible that it's all muscle? If so, when will this muscle gain promote fat loss? For a girl, going up in weight like this is not good especially when I was wanting to do this program for toning and weight loss. Please let me know if you have had similar experiences and when you started to lose weight. I'm sort of freaking out.

ive gained wieght too. on my 4th week. But my BF% has dropped well over a full percentage point. Im following the diet. are you? Are you tracking your fat percentage? I really dont weigh myself anymore. I mainly check my BF% and use a tape measure to gauge things as weight change is misleading.

I agree with BigFoot. You will often gain weight early on in P90X. Relax, you're building muscle! The fat will go, but in many cases it won't budge much before you hit Phase II. Then the fat really begins to melt!
Just stay the course, enjoy the workouts, and know the fat melt is coming!!

I am on Day 8 and have gone up about 2 pounds, but I'm actually smaller. Keep in mind that if you weren't used to drinking a lot of fluids, and you are well hydrated, you may gain several pounds just from that. When I am dehydrated (had too much tea or some alcohol the day before) I will be 1-2lb under my regular weight. It's possible something you are eating more of or you don't usually eat has caused a little bloating. I gain a pound with soy, and with wheat I gain 3 pounds. I avoid wheat now like the plague, but am using soy products in moderation.
If your clothes fit, stop focusing on the scale, don't even get on it! Use only clothing and the mirror to determine if you are getting smaller. If you have fat calipers, try doing some of the measurements you did for the fit test to reassure yourself. It's possible that you were (dare I say) underweight for some reason such as dehydration, lack of muscle. We females like the smallest number on the scale possible. I too was looking forward to smaller numbers, but I know it's just added muscle.
Is it possible you are eating too much? I'm struggling to get up to 1800, I assume you are using Level 1 as well.
Anyway, hope some of this helps! Good luck, keep pushing play!

Its bad to get caught up in what the scale says. Do the program and eat correctly and you will make positive gains. Don't get on a scale more than once per week if even at all.
