Day 9 Tony won (I quit) 3 Months ago Karma: 1
Well on day 9 plyo, and I just could not jump any more! I am out of gas, I need more carbs in my diet, I can tell. My legs feel like jello, and jumping was just not going to happen lol. I'm thinking of doing cardio x? I don't know, but I feel REALLY out of gas, working out so much!! I don't know if I could do the whole 90 days like this!

No, no, no!!! Please, be patient with plyo!!!

Remember, just do what you can do and don't worry about the rest. Please give it some time. In time, it will come! And it will be worth the wait.

Try modifying, adjusting, doing 10 or 15 seconds of each 30 second exercise, take 60 second breaks instead of 30 seconds, doing 30 minutes instead of 60 minutes, doing it ugly instead of doing it pretty. Trust all of us who have been there...you WON'T be sorry!!

And remember that we're all rooting for you when you're doing your workout!!!

Sparta-bound!

Hi No1up,

I agree with Kevin. Please reconsider your thoughts of quitting P90X. There's a reason Tony calls Plyometrics "The mother of all P90X workouts". It's a bear for sure.

I've played ice hockey my entire life and consider my legs in pretty good shape and my cardio pretty good as well. But I can tell you that in the first round of P90X I was feeling it for sure. Plyometrics is challenging to put it lightly. I couldn't complete many of the moves and had to stop a short time into the moves. If you look at it this way, when you stop early it gives you more time to catch your breath and come back a little more rested for the next move.

But I assure you that if you stick with it, it will indeed be worth it.

Only you know your body. So if you feel more comfortable doing the Cardio DVD in place of Plyo until you feel up to speed, by all means. Even Tony suggests this very thing in the warm-up.

This forum is a great resource and source of inspiration.

I hope you stick with it and indeed join the ranks of Sparta like many others here.

Take care.

I know I will probably get slammed for this, but here goes.....

Why not add a few carbs or protein? You may be bonking. Try a small whey protein shake or 1/2 bar about an hour prior to working out. It may add a little octane to your tank.

I remember when I used to mountain bike regularly. When we rode real hard I would get the same problems when I didnt eat enough.

no1up,

The absolute worst thing you could do is give up. We are rooting for you and I'm sure you can do it.

Like others mentioned, the best thing to do at this point is to keep going, but since you know your target... keep it at that point. There is nothing wrong with not being able to keep pace with the folks on TV. Look at them, there in great shape and yet breathing hard and sweating like crazy!

Keep going and do not give up. Put up a sign on your mirror, door, refigerator (I do!) that says Don't give up!

John,

No slamming from my end. I was doing high protein, low carb for Phase I. Figured I'd drop weight like crazy and get in killer shape.

Bad idea...very bad idea!! Bonked big time!!

The bod needs carbs to burn. A few extra carbs won't hurt, and bonking is absolutely no fun at all!! Here's how it works...one gram of carbohydrate has about 3 calories in it. If you took in 30 grams of carbohydrate, you'll consume 90 calories, but you'll probably be able to burn twice that and get in better shape in the process.

I just love math!

Oh, here's another thought. Tony suggests drinking the recovery drink during the workout. You can replace carbs and keep going. Nice!!!

Do your best - and forget the rest...
Hang in there. Go to failure every time and eventually failure will get farther and farther into the tape.
If it was easy, everybody would do it...

Yeah you can up your carb intake for that workout just don't up the protein. Protein won't give you energy.

Wow you guys are great. I should have worded my post better, I ment I quit the plyo 1/2 through it. I'm not giving up the rest!! No way! I love the way I feel on P90x, well untill Plyo that is.

I think that my new jui jitsu class is also killing my energy! I can't seem to follow the diet, it's to much! When I was body building, I would have an easy diet like so.

MEAL:1
8 egg whites (drink) <<store bought egg white
1/2 cup oat meal

MEAL:2
Protein Shake
1/4 cup oat meal

MEAL:3
6OZ chiken breast
4OZ Sweet potato
veggies

MEAL:4
Protien Shake
(oat meal some times)

MEAL:5

6OZ Lean turkey
2OZ sweet potato
Veggies

MEAL: 6
Protien Shake

Bed time.

You see I could follow that so easy! nothing to it. Now I have to cook these crazy meals. Is there any way I could do a diet like my old one only getting the requierd amounts that the P90X would give me?

Again looking at all your post, my heart went out. You guys don't even know me, yet you took the time to say you care. ALL of you have class in my book!
