Anybody starting DECEMBER 8TH? 1 Year, 3 Months ago Karma: 0
Hey all, I have been on this forum for the past couple of months and have been training in preparation of P90X! Just wanted to give a shout out to those who plan on starting tomorrow, maybe we can start our own thread and then when the new years resolution people start we can get a whole "newbie" thread going! BRING IT!

I started yesterday. Today is my second day. I did each DVD workout at least twice in a past month just to get a feel for it.
I am ready!!!

Hello,

I'm starting tomorrow (05:30 EST), and a thread would be a great idea. I know there are going to be days (times) when things aren't going to go as I expect them to. Right about that time is when everyone needs some extra encouragement, and if we are all in our basements, where is that encouragement going to come from? Here, that's where!

I believe I will be starting tomorrow. Diet won't be quite in check til later in the week but hey why wait, right.
Just got mine last week so I haven't been doing any prep exercises so if it's too much for me I may be restarting around the 1st.

But I need the motivation, so I am in on the thread!

Did Plyo today....kind of, made it about 3/4 the way through and that it was it for me. I've tried P90x before and never did finish the 90 days, always burnt me out. Probably, because I was always pushing too hard. When the years start adding up on you it makes a HUGE difference. I'm determined to get through the 90 days this time, so pacing myself will be key.

Re:Anybody starting DECEMBER 8TH? 1 Year, 3 Months ago Karma: 0
Did Chest and Shoulders last night, couldnt do but 1 rep of the dive bomb pushups on the last set. Ab ripper X completely abliterated me afterwards, I just laid in front of my TV for about 10 minutes while my dog licked me in the face and I couldn't push her away.

Plyo is today....wish me the best of luck, and I wish you all the best of luck too!.

I got my 300 grams of protein, but had 250 grams of carbs, while I was only supposed to have 180, and a total of 2500 calories (target 2400).

How am I supposed to get 300 grams of protein but only 180 grams of carbs? Just eat a million eggs? Rice and yogurt and apples have good carbs, am I in trouble?

THANKS!

Re:Anybody starting DECEMBER 8TH? 1 Year, 3 Months ago Karma: 0
Yes I started yesterday (Dec 8th). My gf is preparing the meals for me, and we're pretty much following the recipe book to a tee. Started with Chest and Back (along with Ab Ripper X) yesterday. Twasn't so bad, but I feel it today lol.

Prior to starting P90X, I was already involved in a 3 day a week strength training routine at the gym for 4 months.
Haven't done the fit test, but I can push (once warm, with good form):

40 standard-width pushups
7 standard-width pullups
25 ins-and-outs
220 lb squats for 8 reps

For a 5' 8" 155lb guy, I'd say I'm fit enough to do P90X. I'm really hoping to lose some bodyfat on this program (currently 21~22% bf according to my weight watchers scale) and really increase my endurance for hilly forest hiking.

So anyways, I could use some extra support from those into the program so I'm in this thread as well.

Re:Anybody starting DECEMBER 8TH? 1 Year, 3 Months ago Karma: 0
Guys,

I am on my day 4 today. When I started on Saturday December 6 I was:
Body Fat %- 25%
Weight -220
I am pretty tall 6.2 and people tell me that I dont look fat but believe me I feel it.
My biggest issue is drinking and socializing. This is why I failed first attempt. I need to stay away from alcohol!!! I am not sure why, but my body needs 2 days to recover from drinking. I cant do anything with exception of lying on the couch. It sucks because people ask me to go out every day after work. Thats lots of pressure. I need to be strong and say NO for 90 days!!!

Here is what happened so far:
Saturday 12/6 Chest and back- The workout went pretty well with exception to the damn Dive-bomber Pushups. I couldnt do one so I went on my knees and was able to do 10.
Ab Ripper-Killer workout I need to stop after every exercise change for 10-20 sec to regain my self. I hate this work out!!!!!!

Treadmill- Ran for 2.5 miles

Sunday 12/7 Plyometrics- I love this work out. I think this is one of my favorites workouts that I dont mind doing and actually looking forward to it.

Treadmill- Ran for 3 miles

Monday 12/8 Shoulders and Arms- The work out went pretty well. I also completed bonus round.
Ab ripper- Completed with problems!! My mind was playing tricks on me. I was looking for any excuse to skip it. I hate this work out!!! It took lots of convincing my self that I have to finish this exercise!!

Treadmill- Ran 2.5 miles

Today will be day 4. I am at work right now. Lunch time I will go for a quick run and will do Yoga when I get home.

Oh nutritions!! I am trying to keep it simple as possible:
Breakfast- Shake
Snack1-half of whole-wheat tortilla with 3oz of turkey, lettuce and tomato.
Lunch-Mix Salad with some turkey and egg
Snack2-half of whole-wheat tortilla with 3oz of turkey, lettuce and tomato.
Dinner- Chicken or steak with some mix salad and cooked string beans or asparagus.
Snack3- Nuts or dried fruit or cottage cheese

This pretty much will be my fat shredder food.

Bring it!!!!!

Greg

Re: your concerns with Ab Ripper X.

Stick with it bro, trust me, it hurts like hell now, but you WILL improve. Tony's tip (and I agree with him through my experience with it) is to breathe deep through the pain. Focus on your breathing with the ab exercises, get it right, exhale when you should, inhale when you should. It makes a huge difference and for me, makes the difference between 15 reps and 18~20 reps.

Can't believe you actually like Plyo tho, man some of the moves look so gay lol. But I think I need to finish a round before I badtalk it too much.

300 g of protein? Wow that's a lot. Anyways, if you really need to drop carbs and increase protein, try whey or casein protein powder. It's basically concentrated protein with very little fat or carbs. Some brands also have fibre.

Re:Anybody starting DECEMBER 8TH? 1 Year, 3 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi all,

From me own personal experience I would advise people to take things slow. Our bodies took a long time to get to this point where we want to change them. In this day and age where everything is instant we expect the same with our bodies. Not going to happen, slow and steady will win this race. I have burst onto the fitness scene before and went full bore, only to burn myself out, sore, tired, and so I've been told even a little grumpy

Of course this is my opinion and it might not happen to you. But just remember what happens to all those people who join fitness clubs for their new years resolution. Come Feb. where did they all go? This is not a fad, this is a lifestyle change that you should be able to maintain for the rest of your life.

Just a thought or two, from an old guy.

Have a good one people.

Did Plyo last night, and Tony is right, it is the mother of P90X! I am very sore all over, and I have been weight lifting / running for about 6 months now and never felt like this, I love it!

Nutrition going good, only got 260g protein but lowered by carb intake from yesterday, had a big bowl of oatmeal and 7 egg whites this morning with turkey bacon and a glass of green tea, BRING IT WEDNESDAY!
