TOPIC: question about the holidays

question about the holidays 3 years, 1 month ago #6873

After next week, which will be week 2 of my first round, I'm going to be going to my parents house for a week. There's no way I'll be able to do the workouts while I'm there, between the visiting family members and all that jazz.

I'm thinking when I get back to my place, I'm going to either redo week 2 or, after stretching heavily, move on to week 3. Anyone else had something like this, and what did you do then?

If it were me I would repeat week 2. That would give you 2 straight weeks of workouts before your first recovery week. To get the most out of your recovery week I think your body should be geared up before it. During my first time through I had a botched up week so I repeated it. I also had a week that I only missed a day and I picked up where I let off a day later. I would rather move or repeat workouts. It won't hurt you.

Everybody has a different view point about these kind of subjects.

I am sure that there are people out there that would skip it all together or maybe start all over from day 1.

What do "you" want from this program? That question should give you the answer you are looking for.

Stay strong while you are away.

Ken

You might not be able to do the resistance workouts, but what about plyo and kenpo, yoga & x stretch? You could take the dvds with you and see if you can do one or two while you are away. Might help you work off some of your holiday meals. Who knows, maybe you can recruit a family member or two into joining you.

Even if you don't have a DVD, some of the routines have a exercise-by-exercise description in the guide book, so you can go through the routine without watching it (plyo is described). You could also keep up with the pushups in the C&B routine, with a little rest instead of the pullups in between. I usually take a 3-week vacation without access to a dvd player, I will do what I can from the routines with the book. I also bought "Aquabells", which I will use in July on my trip.

If you are planning to make a lifestyle change, things are going to come up, and you're going to have to make time to workout regardless. I've switched workouts around so I can do shorter ones on particular days. Just saying, if you plan to do some of the routines, you'll still be in the habit of working out, it'll keep you motivated to continue when you get back to school. I know if I take 3 weeks off, it would be harder for me to start again than if I did something (even if it's not the required workouts).

I agree you should redo week 2, so you have some Phase 1 momentum when you go into recovery week.
