Hi, everyone,

Day 1 of P90X is done. I'm doing it partly to lose some fat that I've been trying to get rid of since high school (almost 24 now, and fairly athletic as it is), but mostly because I'm trying to improve my strength and athletic ability so that I can make an elite Ultimate Frisbee team this summer/fall.

So day 1 was chest/back, and it involved a lot of different kinds of push-ups. It's supposed to be chest and back, but my triceps are feeling it pretty good. Am I doing it wrong?

Thanks,

Charles

In my opinion, probably not. I'm only starting my 5th week of P90X so I'm not a program expert; however, after spending more than 22 years in the Army, I know a thing or two about doing proper pushups!

The "military" style pushup really works the triceps along with the chest, and you are probably feeling the effects of those. The other styles - standard and wide - are more about the chest and less about the triceps.

Really, P90X seems to work large muscle groups rather than individual muscles so unless you were going to do triceps hard the next day (which you are not), I don't think there's anything to be worried about.

I agree with Kathy on this one. I've done 2 complete rounds, 2 attempts at a 3rd and am starting phase 2 of the 3rd attempt tomorrow. If that makes any sense whatsoever.
Anyway, I feel my triceps the next day too, and as you are doing very little with your arms in plyo the next day, you'll be fine.

no your triceps are smaller muscles so youll have to build them up before you start feeling it in your chest... a larger muscle.
