Haven't even started yet, already having difficulty! Planning to officially start P90X on Thursday, as I have free time all week except Wednesdays so I figured it'd be good to have Rest/Stretch X on that day. Also, this has allowed me to get my kitchen in order and try to get my diet adjusted before I start. After only 1 day of tracking my diet, I have already found that it's going to be difficult reducing the carbs down to 30%, especially with eating so many veggies (which I like, but are mostly carbs). Learning a lot though, and sure I'll get it figured out within the next few weeks. Also, will have more of an appetite once I start the program, which should help as well (finding that I also need to increase my intake, even though I need to lose about 50 pounds overall).
To all others just getting started...good luck to us all! I am greatly encouraged by the supportive community I have found even before beginning the program. Never been involved in something like this before.

Hey there blue,
yeah i posted something similar to yours. Carbs are a pain!!! you have to eat meat only - and if you do that its hard to get the number of calories your body needs. I think you just have to eat tons or plain meat - turkey, chicken, tuna, salmon, more chicken.
I am only on day 3 of the diet but its starting to get better. I am just gald Im not the only one with this problem

Technically speaking tuna isn't a meat, but that's neither here nor there. Eating a lot of white meats should be a given. Chicken and turkey are your best friends when it comes to a healthy diet. You need to be selective of when you eat things with carbs. Stay away from anything with bread first and foremost. I posted something in the nutrition awhile back about making a turkey lettuce wrap, but the wrap is a big leaf of lettuce rather than a tortilla. It's little things like that that get the job done when trying to maintain that ratio.

I find it easier to not worry about calculating the % myself and just follow how many servings of each thing P90X gives you...so veggie fall on veggie and carbs are more bread, rice, etc. That has been the easiest for me. But I only get 1 carb and just save it for dinner. Have been eating a lot of lean protein, good dairy, and veggies. My actually food layout is somewhere around here. Best of luck and it will all work out for you once you get in the swing of things!

I go with the serving count also, it's hard to maintain the 1 serving of carbs so i don't. I decided to get a serving and 1/2 in order to get my oatmeal for bf.
doing the serving and eating as often as possible will help also, i definitely eat more than 5 times a days
