Newbie - lookout! 2 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Hey guys,

I have read a couple posts here in the beginners section and I see alot of people with motivation quite like myself and look forward to sharing my success with you guys eventually. To give you a little info about myself, I am currently 26 and quite active, I play hockey 3-4 times a week competitively and this winter I will be slowing down to one game a week. I am currently 200 lbs 5'9 and last yr was 230, I took it upon myself to become a cardio beast at the local gym and lost 25+ pounds on my own, my eating habits are decent other than the occasional midnight snacks lol and I am looking for an answer to get past the dreaded "plateau" and loose another 20 lbs. I came across this P90X program and have no doubt that this is the answer.

I am open to any suggestions / coments and I will be looking to lend some advice to any other newbs souch as myself. Hope to keep in touch with some of you through these tough, but fun! times...

cheers guys,

Kyle

Hi Kyle,

Welcome to the forums! You've come to the right place for encouragement and advice. We're all here to get better!!

This is the place to kill the Plateau Beast...P90X will help you blow right through it! Sounds like you're in good shape to begin with and we're all envious of your plyometrically optimized legs right at the start! They'll get a good workout here, and your skills on the ice will improve greatly.

Sparta-bound!!

Kevin

Obviously you have good cardio if you play that much hockey cuz that sport is a beast! I bet the only thing you are struggling with is a good combo of exercise along with diet. With your current activity level combined with p90x you should be able to lose the fat real quick!

well my biggest problem is trying to time my workouts so im not sore as hell when I get on the ice, its funny cause you workout to perform better, but when its hard to lift an arm it doesnt help either, and I dont really have an off season to prepare I play yr round. This is why I took this winter and reduced it to one game a week to give myself enough time and REST to start P90X. I have a real issue getting to bed early and only get id say 5-6 hrs of slee a night which I know is not enough.

I am figuring that with all the P90X workouts that I will be exhausted and be able to sleep more! We shall soon find out!

you will sleep more - when I started I was the same way liked to stay up late. But then p90x was literally making me pass out by 9pm!

Soreness is an issue. Ia m really big into mountain biking and lesser so into running but I have to be careful what days I chose my activities cause of soreness. legs and back always makes you legs sore so you probably don't want to play hockey after that. Once you get past the first month you won't feel too much soreness in upper body that would affect your hockey. But legs are always feeling it after legs/back!

hey guys,

so last night while I was reading all the material I decided to do the cardio X to get a little workout in, WOW pretty fun! Lots of great movements that get the HR up and keep it there, lots of fun!

I liked the yoga poses lol "downward dog" to "warrior one" lol

It was fun to learn the poses and use them again and again
