Hey guys and girls,
I am debating about starting this P90x program. Since I saw it on the TV, i was sceptical (usualy anything you see on TV is a money grab). So I did some research and found this forum.... My question is: Other then the DVDs what do I need to have to get right into the program? dumbbells? pull up bar? .... im looking for your advise for a complete shopping list to get me started. Turned 23 years old two days ago, and I am in my worst shape of my life. I think Im ready to put myself in reverse gear when it comes to this. Any advice, help will be apreciated. Thank you |

In my opinion the most costly part of this program is purchasing the food for your diet. You will need dumbbells and a pull up bar or resistance bands. I prefer the weights as opposed to the resistance, but that's just me. A yoga man and block are not required, but are helpful so a couple more things to consider. Other than that all you need is the desire and dedication!

Agree with Coy G...I prefer pull-bar and dumbells to the resistance bands (i think it is much easier to "cheat" w/ the bands). On the diet side of life...if you want, some whey protein powder, protein bars, and some kind of recovery drink (I bought Endurox R4 - vanilla). Coy G is also correct in saying that the food will cost a lot of money, unless you can eat canned tuna and chicken breast the entire time. A yoga mat is a definite plus (pick one up at walmart for about $20), mostly i can use my push-up bars (walmart - about $15) as yoga blocks.
With that, I believe you'll be ready to rock!!! |

At Sports authority I got a yoga kit for 20 bukcs that came with mat and two blocks.
I agree with food being expnsive- especially all these damn supplements. I do like the p90x recoery drink though - its tastes good! |

Thanks for responding guys...
Well.... I picked up the P90X kit ans their pull up bar localy yesterday. Been reading the books and watched the first DVD. Today I got the measurements done and the photos.... I really want to start up, but cant. I want to really understand the diet thing (as it is confusing to me right now) I wish someone would just post EXACTLY what to eat each day ( I realy dont care what to eat) on a time frame and I could write that down and go shopping for a cse of tuna cans. Also, trying to set up the workout area... PS: How many dumbels I REALISTICALY need? |

I know its hard work but you may consider using a website like nutrawatch.com or fitday.com to track all your calories. This also breaks down your carbs/fat/proteins as well which is required to stay within the percentages outlined in the diet plan. My diet was oatmean in the morning maybe with a fruit or banana. Then a protein bar for snack. My Lunches are almost always tuna/turkey/low salt ham/chicken sandwhiches. Dinner is usually some fish like salmon, grilled chicken breasts with brown rice and various veggies (steamed is best). Just remember to throw in some protien bars or something between meals.
