Lean or classic? 1 Month, 4 Weeks ago

Would anyone please help me figure something out!
I just started the P90X program and I started doing the classic version, but now I am rethinking if I should do Classic or Lean???
I'm in pretty good shape, and I really don't have any weight to lose I guess (5'9 and 135lbs). Although, I've always had problems with my love handles and just stomach area, so of course I would love to tone up in those areas! I overall want to tone up, get some abs and more muscle definition... but of course I'm not looking to "bulk up".
What program do you think I should do? Do I have weight to lose?
Please help!

Welcome to the forums! You've come to the right place for answers and encouragement.
Boy, your first post and you've already asked the big question...nice job!! I'm just having a little fun with you, but seriously this is an interesting question.
First of all, it sounds like your weight is about right for your height. Maybe you've discovered a couple of small rolls that you'd like to work off. And you've already explained that definition and abs are reasonable goals.
Now...if you ask ten of us you'll get ten different answers here. It's important to note that this is NOT a bodybuilding program. In most cases, though, you will gain some muscle mass. You won't look like the guys posing on stages, however. You'll get a little more muscle mass with Classic than with Lean. You will get some muscle definition and some mass with Lean but you'll burn off a little more fat with Lean than with Classic.
Remember that diet is also very important. You can work your legs off and not shed an inch if your diet isn't right. Many of us follow the booklet included with P90X and have achieved success. To be fair, many of us follow our own plans or other plans that better suit our lifestyles with equal success. The goal, of course, is to burn more calories than you consume, but not so few calories that the normal repair and stability processes of your body (known as homeostasis) shut down from perceived starvation. You've got to eat a minimal amount or you won't see definition, toning, mass increases, or fat loss. It seems a little weird, but it's true.
Having laid out all the above, I think you'd achieve your goals with either program. And nothing precludes you from doing the other program the following three months. So, if you want to get a little tone and definition in the first round, do Classic. Then you can use Lean in the second round for fat burning and maintenance of tone. If you want to drop the fat first, do Lean first, then come back with Classic in the second round to get some more mass and definition.
I know I got a bit wordy, but it's a complex question and I wanted to try to help as best I could.
Sparta-bound!!

I recommend Classic first, then Lean if you want to second. I am 5'7", 143lb. I think Classic has the additional muscle-building properties that will get you in better shape. If you do the 12-15 reps I don't see how you will bulk up, I haven't noticed any of the women in the infomercial or on the Beachbody boards looking bulky. Also, this program is about STRENGTH,not just fat. That comes with the added resistance training. After all, the ladies in figure competitions lift weights, and they don't look bulky, they look toned and athletic.

Thank you both so much for getting back to me!
I have decided to stick with the classic. I think this is what will suit me best. And if I want to lean out more then I will do the lean program.
I love this program! I can't wait to finish it. I'm sure I'll be seeing you all around on the boards
