Just a quick hello and few questions 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hello my name is Safira
I just started P90X last week but couldn't do it every day because my muscles were so sore that i couldn't even walk normal lol.

I have never done any sports but luckly i passed the fit test.
I can do Plyo with no probs but the day after it just hurts like hell.

Now i have the flu so no plyo for me the next couple of days.
Anyways nice to meet y'all.

These are my questions:
I just want to be tighter not lose any weight.
Should i just take 2000 carbs per day then?

We have a wooden ceiling so a pullup bar ain't gonna happen.
Are there any alternatives?

I don't want to have manly arms so should i maybe back off with the arm biceps and triceps exercises a little bit?

Thaanks for everyone in advance, I will post pics of my progress.

You will to keep taking the same diet unless directed otherwise by a professional doctor or nutritionist. Reason being your body needs the resources to build glucose, protein and vitamins. Without it you will destroy your body. Glucogon is something you do not want to start producing.

As far as getting tighter, here is one tip for body building.

Light Weights + More Reps = Scuplting
Heavy Weights + Less Reps = Bulking

Hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum and to P90X!

For your questions:

- I suggest that you do the routines even though you are feeling sore. You can work through the soreness and it actually goes away somewhat when you start your exercises. It also helps in recovering faster.

- I wouldn't workout while sick (flu), so maybe take a few days off to completely feel better and if you're only a week into the program just restart it from day 1? It's up to you.

- If you want to maintain your current weight (as I did and am doing), then all you have to do is eat at your daily caloric maintenance level. That means, eat enough calories that has you not gain or lose any weight. This might take some trial and error, but there are also some calculators that you can find online to help you gauge as to what the level could be close to. I would also recommend eating healthy.

- Alternatives to pullups would be the resistance bands as are shown in the P90X videos. You can get a set of bands and a door anchor in order to use them without having to suspend them from the ceiling. You can also search some alternative exercises to pullups online. If you have the money, you could also buy a pullup station.

- If you don't want "manly arms" all you have to do is aim for 12-15 reps on your exercises instead of 8-10. The 12-15 rep range will work on building lean muscles, while the 8-10 rep range works on building size. No need to change up the exercises what-so-ever.

Hope this helped. Cheers!

Thaanks ok great that i found this forum!
I will try to exercise thru my sore muscles next time and when i am better i was planning to start from day 1 anyways.
Right now i have a inflammation of the throat didn't knew the right words for it lol.

I still can't wait to get back started. Yesterday i tried the YogaX but sweat broke out after just 1 minute where normally i can go on and on so with a inflammation of the throat i guess it's better to wait.

I will find out how many carbs i have to eat every day and where to buy equipment i am from Belgium.

Thanks for the support and we'l get back to ya

If you aren't already, I would highly suggest you take a good multivitamin. I started taking one a few years ago, and ever since I haven't had the flu once! Maybe a cold or a sinus infection here and there, but no flu

I'd suggest investing in some protein powder/whey stuff to combat the soreness, drink it after the workout so it gets rushed into your muscles and speeds up the recovery process cause the muscles are starved for the stuff or something. Don't hold me to that though, don't want someone to get technical on my ass about it.

The soreness comes from a build up of lactic acid in your muscles. Thats why you stretch after a work out to "squeeze" the acid out. The best way is to sweat it out. If you have access to a sauna or a steam room. Use it within recommended usage, it will help a lot.

Wow, thanks for your advises.
I will try to use protein powder because after a workout i notest my body is craving for it. I always feel like eating pasta or crisps afterwards. Offcourse i layoff the crisps.

I do take multivitamines but sometimes i forget it lol. Now my illness has become a stomic flu too lol. I only get this sick once a year and always around septembre.

I have went to a sauna only once and ii will try to find out if there are any near my house, would be great if it helps.

I do notest now that the sore muscles heal faster since i was a few days in the program. Offcourse i get sore muscles because i haven't worked out in like 10 years orso but i did always ride on my bycicle and always had active work.

It realy bothers me that i can't workout now because i notest that when your body get's stronger, your mind get's stronger and your confidence level rises skyhigh.

I love P90X because it is challenging and the results are real from good hard work and longlasting.

Thanks you'all, will report back

If you are craving pasta after a work out then that means you are needing more energy. Energy comes from carbohydrates which is found in pasta, rice, ect... If you can afford it, I would go and buy a 4:1 carb/protein recovery drink. That might help too.

You can find them just about anywhere and not expensive either.

OK
Thanks good to know. I think it's logical since i didn't eaten it enough last couple of months. I will try to find a good shop around here and buy a few stuff. I need a mat anyway and weights.
Next week i go to the docter too to let my blood be checked to see if my vitamine levels are all okay.

I did notest that with working out the metabolism speeds up and i loove vegetables and fruit now too were first i liked fatty food more

I notest too that i have more energie now and chores to do in the house don't make me tired at all. Working out is so great!

Ok see y'all byebye
