Hello Forum

I just started program and started in classic. But the more I read I think I may need to switch to lean. Im a monther of three and need to loose baby weight, sad to say but I never lost it with my scond and added more weight on I had third. Im looking to lose weight only and tone. I dont want to be bulky. I have lost almost 15 lbs in a month by changing diet and perscribed phentermine. What do you suggest. Any adivce would help, classic or lean. Im also adding my legs are killing me after day two of classic program.

well you dont have to bulk with the classic program, it just has weight training involded to build muscle which in turn burns more calories. Lean just has all cardio aspects instead of weight training. i would go with lean though if you are in pain.

I agree with viciss.

A lot of people who are just trying to lose some fat are concerned that they will bulk up too much muscle if they lift weights. The truth is, it is the muscles that burn that fat for you! My suggestion would be to continue with the classic but use lower weight and higher reps.

More weight => More Muscle
More reps => More Lean

Now when you say that you legs are killing you, do you mean that the muscles are sore or your knees/ankles ache? If they are sore, try some extra stretches. Your muscles will adapt just fine to the new workload. If they are aching, you have to try to figure out why. Use more floor padding, better sneakers, or just keep an eye on your form on some of the higher impact exercises.

If you feel like the classic version will burn you out, then it is not worth it! Switch to lean if you think it will be easier to keep yourself motivated.

hi drol, welcome and congrats on starting. my suggestion is always to stay on classic, regardless what you would "prefer". can you define "bulky"? is dreya from the videos too bulky for you? some may even think the dentist girl in legs & back (i forget her name at the moment) is too bulky.

if those are your definitions of bulky, then ok, you MAY want to consider lean. but if not, then you have nothing to worry about. most women pick up a couple 3lb dumbells and worry that they will turn into Arnold! truth is, its just not possible! women dont have enough testosterone in their bodies to become "bulky". then what about those women bodybuilders? you may ask. those are not real, they take various supplements (read: STERIODS) to get that big.

here's a site that i've come across with very good tips for women and training. its a little long, but definitely worth the read.

Hi,

I hope my advice will do good to you and start losing weight the proper way.

It is much easier for men to lose fat and keep it off than it is for women. As child bearers, women are genetically predisposed to higher fat ratios, but the baseless fears many women have about how weight training will shape their bodies also contributes to the problem.

In order to lose the fat fast and enjoy a firm, shapely physique, it is imperative that women include a significant amount of intense weight training in their workout routine.

Muscle, a metabolically active tissue, actually helps to burn fat. Having more muscle on your body raises your resting metabolic rate, ensuring that you will be burning more calories even when you are not working out. If you want to lose the fat fast, building and maintaining healthy muscle tissue should be a top priority.

Many women feel that weight training is not an option because they fear adding extra bulk or looking masculine. Once you know the facts, you’ll see that this fear is completely irrational. Muscle tissue is built slowly and gradually, more so for women than for men due to hormone differences.

Weight training is the best way to lose the fat fast and reshape your body into an ideal trim female form. Women who want to lose the fat fast must overcome their fear of bulking up by spending time on weight and resistance training.

In addition to helping you lose the fat fast, weight training improves athletic ability by boosting speed, agility, and flexibility, and protects the body from injury. The lean and muscular physiques of sprinters and football running backs are proof of this rule.

Osteoporosis, a major issue among women as they grow older, can also be prevented through weight training.
