I've been doing martial arts for the last 21 years, and have made a career out of it. My opinion is that what you are doing in kempo is a good cardio workout. You are not going to learn to defend yourself, or be prepared to break boards, but you'll burn a lot of calories doing the workout. Use it for what it is, and don't expect anything more out of it.

This is RIDICULOUS! Just turned the Yoga off at the 39 min. mark (remaining). I got through all the damn vinyassas and did pretty well on the movements, but the balance poses (which up until tonight I've been pretty decent on) are a waste of time....my legs are shaking so badly and my balance so poor after the vinyassa work that I cannot even hold the balance poses for a few mere seconds, before falling out of them. So now I can't do the part of the Yoga that I COULD do before....some progress! Just a freakin' waste of time!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HATE Tony Horton!
I quit! This stupid Yoga makes me feel like such a failure....I refuse to feel this way about myself. Take this crap and shove it. Thank God I didn't pay a red cent for this rip-off workout "system". |

IMHO, if you absolutely hate a certain workout, DON'T DO IT! Just replace it with one that is productive for you. I am going to do the entire 90 days off just half of the DVDs. Don't worry, you'll still get a great workout, just with less variety and fewer muscles worked.

I don't have any "issues", M1911A1. Your sanctimonius response, which there was no reason for as there is nothing substantive nor helpful in it, is part of what is wrong w/ people who get obsessed w/ this P90X crapola....you feel superior to others who just aren't willing to keep having their conditioning compromised by something that just doesn't work for them. Apparently, the herniated discs and other spinal issues that I have simply won't allow me to do Yoga to a point that I can get any benefit from it, and "pushing thru" just back/hips apart and results in a NEGATIVE impact to the program. Horton as much as says that without the yoga, the rest of the program is pretty much useless...so what's the point of staying with it?
If you didn't like reading what I had to say, you at least didn't have to make an insulting comment....just keep it to yourself. |

When it comes down to it, exercising and losing weight equals calories in vs calories out. If you take out yoga, which burns 500 calories an hour and replace it with a cardio or strength session that burns 500 calories an hour (hypothetically), your weight loss should be the same. Trust me, no specific workout/exercise is make or break to any weight loss. That is just silly.
