Well I am begining week 3 today. I have done great with my diet and lost about 8 pounds in the first two weeks. That was until yesterday. I knew that we were having company for brunch followed by a dinner out. I have followed the diet almost exactly and felt as though I adjusted well to it. Buy I had a few things that I should not have eaten followed by a somewhat bad dinner. I weighed myself this morning and I had gained about 3 lbs in a 24 hour period!!!!! I am so disgusted with myself. I am back on the diet and working out today but I am very disappointed. My wife says that most of that 3 pounds will come off within the next 24 hours and that she thinks that it is weight from salt. She said that my body has to process all that extra food and that about 1.5 pounds will just "disappear." I am not sure. How bad is this and is it likely that it will come off that quickly? Thanks

Yes, some of that will be water retention due to salt. You'll know better after 2-3 days.

Don't worry, you don't gain 3lbs of real wieght overnight. 2 steps forward and 1 back every once in a while is still progress. The occasional cheat can actually be a good thing if it helps you to refocus and redouble your efforts.
I had a prime rib dinner with cheesecake for dessert yesterday. What a treat!

dont sweat it. dont weigh yourself after a bad eating day...its not good for your psyche! haha...but yea, that weight should "disappear". one bad eating day shouldnt kill you. i ate like complete CRAP last weekend, but still managed to lose about 2 pounds for the week. just keep it up (the workouts that is, not the bad eating!).

It is fine to cheat once in a while. Don't forget why you are doing this, it is for a better life but don't stop living

Don't sweat it. You have to live a little. During the week I try to eat properly but if I go out with my family or friends on the weekend, I'll order desert or have a beer or two. If you deny yourself stuff, it will only make you crave it more. Just don't do it everyday. A little willpower goes a long way.

But a cheat day, even once a week, isn't a bad thing.
