Hey,

I'm 26 and a dude, hurrah! I started P90X on Monday and my body is racked with pain heh.

As you I'm sure all experienced too, the soreness is huge and is making me look like an invalid when I try to do...well anything I guess.

This I can take, I am aware that, much as I don't like it, it's a side effect is working out hard and often and it should pass as my body gets used to what's going on somewhat.

That being said, my triceps right down by my elbow are murderous. If the soreness on the rest of my body was an 8/10, they are 20/10.

I've been doing all the exercises with good form, I think, so I don't think I've tweaked anything from doing it wrongly, but they hurt incredibly and I'm conscious of doing myself an injury by working them too much.

QED I couldn't do some of Yoga yesterday as the pain in my tricep's was too great, to do up dog I had to flop onto my stomach and go up that way. Can't put my jacket on without trouble, can't really put my coller in my shirt down etc!

Can I get some advice here please, as I can take pain and soreness, but I don't want to hurt myself and have to stop the program, I also don't want to 'quit' and skip days etc as I'm hurting.

Sounds like you brought it and then some. You may have pushed yourself a bit further than you should have but it sound like regular soreness. If you feel anymore beyond being sore then you should worry. There's a difference between actually pain and soreness, so, as long as you're just sore you're ok. Just make sure to keep moving. If you stop moving or don't stretch you'll regret it. You may also need to take it easy (no stop, just easy) for the next day or two. Don't wait until you don't feel sore, just don't push too hard.

Hey I have been doing this for 8 months and still get sore after legs and back. I give it my best every time and still walk like a 90 year old man for 2 days afterwards. But it does subside. If your pain/ soreness doesn't go away after a couple of days. I would check with your doctor befor risking being sidelined. After my arm workouts they are really pumped up and are only sore to touch the following day. I haven't experienced any lack of motion.

I would say on your rest day this week to try and do some of the X-Stretch as it could help stretch out the areas that are sore, just take it a little easier for the next few workouts, 90 days is a long time, so you have lots of time to bring it as they say.

in addition to all that has been said, if you have to, take that extra day. it really is not advisable to workout a muscle that is still that sore. thats what i had to do my very first week, my tri's were still too sore to do shoulders & arms, so i just took 1 extra day after plyo before i tackled shoulders & arms. better safe than sorry.

something else thay might help, which you didnt mention if you do or not, is to make sure you have a recovery drink. that will help with the soreness. either get the P90X one, or as most do, make your own (as simple as: plain yogurt, banana, protein powder). most important factor of a recovery drink is to make sure you attain a 4:1 carb to protein ratio.

i dont have to tell you to "Bring It!", cuz clearly you are!

I am at the end of week 2 now, and I could relate to what you were talking about.

Day 1 on Chest and Back, I was pumped because I started P90X. The next day, I was going "what the hell have I done....uggggghhh." I had trouble washing my hair because my arms couldn't move, couldn't fasten my seatbelt very easily, trouble putting on shirts/jackets. So I know what you are going through. However, by around Sunday of week 1, almost all of the pain was gone and now I have been bringing it to that same "fatigue point" as I did on day 1, with very minimal soreness if any at all.

My arms haven't gotten sore since that first day. The only repeat soreness I have gotten, which was really small in the first place, was after Plyo. My quads burn for a day or so after that, but otherwise just KEEP STRETCHING. Hell, throughout the day do some ballastic stretching to loosen it up. Do huggers, the pot stirring, etc and the soreness will go away much faster. Staying limber prevents soreness!
