This is going to sound silly but how do you stay motivated with everything else that goes on in your life. I'll expand...
I've started P90X twice but didn't get past week 3. The first time I injured myself (my neck) and had to stop for 2/3 weeks just to make sure I was fully recovered. The second time I started, I just found that I was too tired to continue day after day. I have 3 children, the oldest being 5 and the youngest 18 months. This means that exercising in the evening is not an option. The only TV in our house is in the front room and the kids would get in the way as well as there being the risk of them hurting themselves. As a result, I exercised in the morning. However, I have to be at work by 7:30am so I have to get up very early to start an hour worth of exercise. When the children are ill, or even when they have a restless night, it means that I don't sleep properly - this means that it's harder to get up in the morning and exercise. I've taken the before pictures and it's not a pretty sight - completely different to looking in a mirror, so I know what I have to do. I know I need to lose about 20lbs so I have my targets. Although I know I can't blame my children, it's a big factor. What do other people with young children do? Or am I missing something obvious? Thanks in advance for any advice. |

Maybe try breaking the workouts in half - do half in the morning, and the other half at night after the children go to bed.
You're in a rough spot for trying to get your workouts pumped out during the day, but try to do so whenever you get a free moment. I workout after work, though I don't have any children, and sometimes I just don't feel like it, but I do anyways and I'm always glad that I did. I know you don't want to hear this, but it sounds like mornings are the best time for you to kick it in gear. I use to hate getting up early in the morning, but now I get up without any issues (I still wait to do my workouts though), but I would think (I could be very very wrong) that you would get use to waking up and working out after a week or 3 of getting into that routine. If all else fails, do what you can, when you can, and go from there. Take care of the important things in life first, otherwise you'll just add more stress that you don't need. Hope that helps, even a little bit |

I have to say that although my wife dosen't care for P90X and the amount of time that it takes. She knows that it is important to me and that I needed to do this both for myself as well as my family. I am into my second week past my first 90. She is still putting up with it for now. We have 2 children ages 7 and 2. I know an hour a day is not going to work forever. I have done workouts at 10 and even as late as 11:30 just because of the kids or work. I actually use my PC to play the DVD's. Have you thought about the 10 min. Trainer or even maybe just doing 30 mins of each workout? Maybe start with 30 minutes and see what happens. Sacrifice is going to be the key. You may have to start by trimming the fat so to speak from your schedule.
Good luck on your decision. Some is better than none. Ken |

My two year old son is my motivation. I'm doing this for him, so every time I think I want to skip, I look at his smiling little face.
You spent a lot of money on the DVDs, spend another $89 and get a portable DVD player, go in your bedroom, and do the workout. Or see if your computer will play the DVDs, and do them that way. I do mine as soon as I put my son to bed. It means I don't finish working out & showering until after 10, but so be it. I'm losing weight, I'm gaining muscle, and my cardio endurance is improving. I'll live longer & healthier & get to do more things with my son because of the sacrifice I'm making now. It's just 90 days. |
